I was very confused to see that nobody had #13, so I went back to see if it had anything to do with my transcription. After some thought, I decided that it would be best to have staccatos on some of these notes--#13 has been edited and updated accordingly.

Static's Miscellaneous Melody Quiz VIII (Round 81)
[folder of stuff cuz too lazy to make individual links]

I wanted to post this before I forgot to post it, since well, you know, I've already gone up to #10. So here's #8! Enjoy.

mastersuperfan

#1818
My internet was down last night and I forgot to post this earlier today. So here ya go.

Answers and Results!

#1 (4/11) (Other #1)
"An Underlying Problem" - [MUL] Shovel Knight

Timestamp: 0:29 - 0:37

I really love this track, even though I feel like it gets overlooked quite a bit (though not nearly as much as A Cool Reception). Rather clearly evidenced by the fact that some of the competitors who recognized this one couldn't remember its name right away...

Quote from: Yug_GuyI mean, #1 does sound familiar, I'll give it that

#2 (2/11) (Mario #1)
"Daisy Hills" - [3DS] Mario Kart 7

Timestamp: 0:30 - 0:37

Yeah, so I know using tracks from MK7 is a little mean. I was tempted to go with something from Super Circuit, but I actually like Daisy Hills so I went with it instead. Good thing more than just the obvious person got it.

Awesome track. Pretty well-known, too, it looks like.

#5 (3/11) (Pokémon #1)
"Dewford Town" - [GBA] Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire Versions

Very underrated track, and I love this melody. I thought the grace note in the fourth measure would have given it away as Gen 3, but maybe not.

#6 (6/11) (Mario #2)
"Space Storm Galaxy" - [Wii] Super Mario Galaxy 2

Timestamp: 0:11 - 0:23

Perhaps not talked about much, but it looks like this is still a pretty memorable track, considering five competitors all got it right off the bat and a sixth remembered it later.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Galaxy 2 music is underrated in general...

For some reason people have tended not to get the Kirby 64 melodies that others use. So I just stuck with something simple here, and it looks like it paid off.

"Damon Gant ~ Swimming, Anyone?" - [NDS] Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Okay, so I might also have put this one in to troll someone in particular. It's a pretty good track, though, and certainly not a difficult one by Ace Attorney standards, especially considering how often it plays.

yes those are the only ones i got

Thinking about it, I've been doing really poorly in these recent melody quizzes. 3/13 on Latios', 2/15 on MSF's, and now 2/10 on Static's. Like... wow I suck lol.

I guess that's what I get for basically not remembering any themes related to Mole Knight, Treasure Knight, and/or Polar Knight.

(I personally rank Specter Knight and Plague Knight's themes in the middle, Propeller Knight's themes between Plague+ Knights' and Mole+ Knights', and all other knights' themes on top of them in terms of Order of No Quarter music rankings.)

As someone who ranks the Order of No Quarter themes in terms of (personal) catchiness, I don't remember what that one sounds like 2-4 listens later. And I've listened to the entire Shovel Knight OST at least once.

Nah, for Order of No Quarter stage themes, I'm the most into "In the Halls of the Usurper" and "Of Devious Machinations".

(Yeah, I gotta play Shovel Knight sometime instead of just watching footage and analyzing the .nsf. I don't even have Steam, though, we haven't played on the Wii in years, and we don't even have a Wii U.)

Unlike Propeller Knight's vaguely namby-pamby music (especially his boss theme), Specter Knight and Plague Knight's boss themes are energetic enough to catch my attention. However, they're too dissonant for my tastes--I've only been able to figure out that some of "The Apparition" has a key, and I only figured out later that "The Vital Vitriol" uses the whole tone scale (and that's why I don't like it so much). I've grown to appreciate "Flowers of Antimony" more after figuring it was easier to transcribe for Guess-The-Song quizzes than "The Vital Vitriol", but "La Danse Macabre" fails to be anywhere near as catchy as the much older "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Saëns (and even that song has its flaws--its slow parts are too long, but at least I can appreciate its storyline, and you get circa 5 minutes straight of awesome fast music). I find "La Danse Macabre" to be unmemorable.

I honestly can't believe you're actually comparing these two, as if the similar titles make the two pieces have anything to do with each other

And besides, I and many others find La Danse Macabre to not only be catchy, but also intense, complex and tonally varied, so I'm not sure what you're missing

oops

QUIZ 9.5

I forgot to finish my tenth one, so I'm throwing this out instead. Trust me, this thing is nasty. I picked out some pretty obscure stuff just because there's so few of them and I felt like doing it (because y'know, I haven't really done it before).

The first page consists of one of each of the big four (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Kirby), while the second page consists of self-indulgent miscellaneous series, and a joke one not worth any points. Whether or not the self-indulgent ones should be included in the total will be considered as it goes along. Also I might post hints later on, not that they'll be too useful.

Take note: I'm not sorry.
