8/30 doesn't seem like a great score. I might submit guesses if I'm bothered enough to write out the PM.

Anything can be an amazing score, if you just believe in yourself.

WaluigiTime64

Guessed anyway.

Also I accidentally wrote the wrong thing for #17 and had to fix it up, which is horribly embarrassing for me.

Shoot, one of my songs has finally been stolen. The rate I'm going (I tried to transcribe the backup for its slot, then decided against doing so because of differences between two prominent versions), I'm currently thinking of slicing MSF's melody off mine.

Shoot, I only got 4 on Dudeman's. Why do melody quiz and Yoshi's Island scores bother me more than they should? If my school only had melody quizzes I'd be a dropout.

Msf, I know you're passionate about these quizzes, but I think I'll draw the line at 20 melodies in the future. You're not in trouble; I just think 30 is a bit much.

Dudeman

Thank you very much to my five entrants for your participation. It's answer time!

#1
Lovely Yellow Va-Va-Vrooms - Kirby Planet Robobot
Timestamp: 0:05
high-quality only no regrets

This one's a fun, quirky ditty that I thought would make for a good starting song. Robobot's actually the only "recent" Kirby game I've played (Epic Yarn excluded), and I love it to bits. Go play it if you haven't.

#2
A Despair-Filled Farewell - Shadow of the Colossus
Timestamp: 1:18

This one's a bit self-indulgent. SotC is easily my favorite game not published on a Nintendo platform, with epic atmosphere and a real sense of scale that you don't get quite anywhere else. AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS DOPE. I was really hoping more people were familiar with it. I guess I was wrong.

#3
Holy Land (Area Zero Camp) - Mega Man Zero 4
Timestamp: 0:23

This one's very self-indulgent. Sorry. I did mention recently in that "Favorite Soundtrack by Console" topic how amazing Zero 4's soundtrack is, but I can't blame the public for not listening to the soundtrack.

#4
Following Stanley - The Stanley Parable
Timestamp: 0:03

Ahh, The Stanley Parable. One of the greatest comedic masterworks of our time, featuring a fairly atmospheric but still effective soundtrack. ...except for this piece, of course. Come, Stanley! Let's find the story!
I put lyrics to this originally for fun, but I guess it might've been hard to pin this one down otherwise. It appears that didn't make it any easier, though.

#5
Napalm Man Stage - Mega Man 5
Timestamp: 0:06

Okay yes I did this partly because Napalm Man is my favorite Robot Master don't judge me. I really really love this piece on its own, too, though. The soaring melody, the slightly melancholic chord progression...ticks all my boxes. Well, at least one guy gets where I'm coming from.

1/5 people guessed this correctly.

#6
Kamella - Super Mario Galaxy
Timestamp: 0:15

I think this originally was another Mega Man piece, but I swapped it out sensing a lack of more popular titles. I still shot for the obscure side of things (this boss is pretty meh and only appears twice), but it looks like this was more memorable than I thought.

3/5 people guessed this correctly.

#7
CORE - Undertale
Timestamp: 1:01

I thought the segment I picked would be vague enough to throw people off despite it being Undertale, and it looks like it may have worked? With only five entries, who's to say. I actually half-expected more correct answers.

2/5 people guessed this correctly.

#8
Hometown - Mega Man Battle Network 4
Timestamp: 0:00

OKAY YES I KNOW THERE'S TOO MUCH MEGA MAN BUT DON'T CRUCIFY ME YET I PICKED THIS ONE ON PURPOSE. All six Battle Network games use the same theme for the protagonist's home town, just with slight variations in key and rhythm, so I figured if you've ever played one, you might be able to remember that and eventually pick the right version. I chose 4 since it's my personal favorite. Nobody guessed any of them because I really shouldn't overestimate the musical libraries of my fellow players.

#9
Fangora - Kirby's Epic Yarn
Timestamp: 0:14

Epic Yarn's great, btw. This boss theme only gets better as it goes, and it's for the first boss in the game. I love the instrumentation, which is simultaneously cute, triumphant, and just plain epic. Looks like that's enough to stick in people's heads.

3/5 people guessed this correctly.

#10
Casino Delfino - Super Mario Sunshine
Timestamp: 0:03

If you spent any time messing around in the minigames included in SM64DS and NSMB, the last two measures should stick out like a sore thumb. I'd hoped that would be enough to nudge people in the right direction (and it did for at least one). WHERE'S E. GADD WHEN YOU NEED HIM

3/5 people guessed this correctly.

#11
Quiet - Cave Story
Timestamp: 0:00

This one was intentionally pretty obscure, so color me surprised that so many people got it. My thought was that those who have played Cave Story would probably know this on the spot, and those who hadn't wouldn't. I guess there are more people who've had experience with the game than I thought? (Except for one, you know who you are.)

3/5 people guessed this correctly.

#12
Lillie's Theme - Pokémon Sun/Moon
Timestamp: 0:21

I took a non-intro portion from a recognizable piece from the best-selling Pokémon games in recent history and hoped no one would notice. You did anyway. Good job.

3/5 people guessed this correctly.

#13
Wheatley Science - Portal 2
Timestamp: 0:44, but gets more prominent at 0:58

Okay, so not exactly the best choice in terms of prominent melodies. Plus this only plays on the menu when you're in the last couple of chapters of the game. I know how to build a quiz, I swear! I AM NOT A MORON!

0/5 people guessed this correctly.

#14
Sauron/Ghosts and Magic/Stage 10 - Need for Madness 2
Timestamp: 0:21

This is the melody that you're all allowed to crucify me for. It's an old browser-based game, it was made in the early 2000's, BUT IT HAS A KICKASS SOUNDTRACK AND I HAVE ALL THE NOSTALGIA. Really just wanted an excuse to put my favorite piece from my favorite racing game into the quiz. And it's apparently one of those games where people tend to go "Hey, I remember this game! I played it as a kid!" I never once expected anyone to get this one, though. Given how the rest of the quiz turned out, I'd almost be tempted to drop the quiz by a point like Waluigi did with his, but...wouldn't change much, tbh.

0/5 people guessed this correctly.

#15
Crossing the Sea - Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire Version
Timestamp: 0:06

This was originally (surprise, surprise) another Mega Man piece from a game that probably nobody but me has played (and Blueflower, actually, but he's not playing). Switched it out a few days before my quiz went up to avoid personal disappointment at a lack of answers. It was apparently a good decision. Given that you only get to hear this melody towards the beginning of the game (I am remembering that correctly, right?), I was hoping that would make it more obscure. I was pleasantly surprised.
