OK, this is a little weird, and I might be a little ticked off if this is really what I think it is:
So my Midna's Lament cover got a copyright notice on it, which I understand, but then I noticed that the claimant was not Nintendo, but "One or more music publishing rights collecting societies" for a song titled "Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - Midna's Lament Cover". I was like "wait, can you get a copyright notice for a cover? Or for apparently covering a cover?" So I checked the Youtube music copyright database and the only Midna's Lament cover I could find that was copyrighted was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=164QhPwET_A
Now I'm like "Wait, but I did a piano thing, not the full instrumental thing that guy did, how can he file copyright?" So I'm just wondering, is this guy really the one flagging my cover? Is it legal to monetize a someone else's cover of another person's song? What the heck? I don't know why I'm mildly freaking out over a vid of mine that will hardly get any views but I just don't like the idea that some person is trying to make money off of my hard work for a song that isn't even there's.
