Congratulations Wolves!

Hey everyone. I hope you enjoyed that game. I put a lot of work into hosting it, and even though I hit a couple of bumps along the way, I'm glad things played out the way they did. I'm going to be doing this post game thread in four parts.

Part 1: Role Reveal
Part 2: Actions
Part 3: Game Analysis, Balance and Mistakes
Part 4: Player Analysis
Part 5: Bonus Material and MVPs

...with a part being posted whenever. Part 1 coming in the next post!

The reason for this is that I have a lot to say. If I wanted to say everything at once, I wouldn't be able to post the post game until tomorrow afternoon, which nobody would like. This also gives me time to make a few cool things in the later sections and make the post-game cover all of the interesting things that occurred during the game.

The Wolves - Thiannon, Zunawe, The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 05:17:52 PMThiannon, you are the White Walker Leader. You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Summon Winter - You have the ability to summon winter. This must be performed ahead of time, by sending a PM to the host during a night phase. The following night phase, winter will deal one heart of damage to up to 6 players of your choice. Single use.
Heal - Heal one player one heart each night phase. Just send a PM to the host with the player you want healed.
Chilling Insight - Learn a player's role, allegiance and powers each night phase. Just send a PM to the host with who you want to know about. Two uses.
Weakness to Fire - Fire-based damage hits you twice as hard.

You also have the following two false roles with which to claim with:

Catelyn Stark
Spoiler
Thiannon, you are Catelyn Stark, a member of the House Stark faction.

Catelyn Stark - Lady Catelyn Stark is Lord Eddard Stark's wife. Born a Tully of Riverrun in the south, she has yet to learn to love the North, but certainly loves her children. She is protective of them, and apprehensive that their safety may be endangered when war approaches. Also she would get really mad if something happened to them.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Mother's Love - Kiss a player. If they're a stark, they gain one health. If not, they'll be kind of weirded out probably.
Apprehension - During a day phase, your vote counts as 1. If you change your vote, it counts as 2. Be careful.
Fury - If another Stark dies, you will be alerted the name of the player, their role, and their powers. You will also gain the ability to steal a player's health during a night phase of your choice (1 heart). Single use.

[close]
Brienne of Tarth
Spoiler
Thiannon, you are Brienne of Tarth, a member of the House Baratheon faction.

Brienne of Tarth - A woman who would be a knight. Totally in love with Renly, and is completely dedicated to whatever cause he may pursue. Used to getting mocked for being a chick with a sword, but she's good with the sword so it doesn't matter that much. Very simple, not into the plots everybody else is obsessed with. Oh, also she's super tall and ugly.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Protector - Send the host a PM suggesting that you would like to protect a certain player. That player takes zero damage, and the player who attempted to damage them takes 1 heart of damage. If the damager is a wolfing, the wolf who sent the PM takes the damage. Single use.
Dedication - On nights 1, 2, and 3, you may send the host a PM containing a person's name you might want to dedicate yourself towards. If any of those players are Baratheons, you will be alerted, although you will not be told which one.
Love - Cry tears of love over a player's dead body by sending the host a PM at night. If that player is a Baratheon, you unlock the "vengeance" ability. Single use.
Vengeance - Attack the player of your choice at night. If they're a Targaryen you gain a health (1). This attack does one heart of damage.
[close]

Zunawe, you are the White Walker Spy. You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Disguise Kit - Disguise you or one of your teammates to be a certain role or allegiance. You can make them Baratheon, or you can make them Robert Baratheon. This makes them take on the allegiance and characteristics of that role, and hides your weakness to fire. Five uses, each use lasts through the night phase. Send a PM to the host with the player you're disguising and what you'd like to disguise them as at night to activate it.
Nullify - Send a PM to the host with a player's name stating that you would like to Nullify them. This makes any power they attempt to use that night phase fail. Single use.
Steal - Steal a player's items. Two uses. Cannot target the same player more than once.
Weakness to Fire - Fire-based damage hits you twice as hard.

You also have the following two false roles with which to claim with:

Jaime Lannister
Spoiler
Zunawe, you are Jaime Lannister, a member of the House Lannister faction.

Jaime Lannister - Jaime Lannister is one of the greatest knights of the Kingsguard, a group of bodyguards sworn to protect the King. However, he has earned the nickname "Kingslayer" for killing the King (Mad King Aerys) he was sworn to protect. They call him honorless, but that doesn't change the skill he has with a sword. His last name also means he's super wealthy, which is pretty neat. Twins with Cersei. Has a sort of lazy, arrogant coolness about him.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Lazy - Non-lethal damage takes an additional phase to register. The damage, assuming it isn't lethal, is essentially postponed to the following phase.
Stab - At any night phase send the host a PM saying that you would like to stab a certain player. This player takes two hearts of damage. If you strike a Stark, this attack which is ordinarily single-use, refreshes with double damage. If you strike a Lannister, you die.
Shove - At any night phase, send the host a PM saying that you would like to shove a certain player. This player's powers will fail the following night phase. If used on a Stark you heal fully. Single use.
[close]
Theon Greyjoy
Spoiler
Zunawe, you are Theon Greyjoy, one of the game's third party roles.

Theon Greyjoy - The only surviving son of Balon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands. When the Greyjoys rebelled against the crown, Eddard Stark took Theon as his hostage and ward. He was raised alongside the other Starks, and is dark, witty, treacherous and good with a bow.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Archery - Send a PM to the host with the name of the player. If that player's name is adjacent to you on the player list, they take two damage. If they are one away from being adjacent to you, they take one damage. Otherwise they take zero damage. (If you are near the bottom of the list, think of the list as repeating.) Single use.
Treachery - Send a PM to the host at night saying that you would like to be treacherous to a certain house. From that point onward, that house's powers will fail on you, and you will function as a member of that house when other players use powers on you.
Iron Heir - If you are the last surviving third-party player, you will gain an extra heart of health and be completely healed.
[close]

The Boy Who Cried Wolf, you are the White Walker Lieutenant. You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Undead Thrall - Revive one player. This player loses their allegiance, cannot use powers or vote, is weak to fire, and counts for the wolves. They will be known to the thread since they will have icy blue hearts as health. Can be used on wolves or humans. Single use.
Freeze Corpse - Send a PM to the host with a dead player's name stating that you would like to freeze them. A frozen corpse cannot be revived. Two uses.
Icy Spear - Throw an icy spear at target player by sending a PM to the host at night. This player loses two hearts of health. Single use.
Weakness to Fire - Fire-based damage hits you twice as hard.

You also have the following two false roles with which to claim with:

Khal Drogo
Spoiler
The Boy Who Cried Wolf, you are Khal Drogo, a member of the House Targaryen faction.

Khal Drogo - The savage leader of the Dothraki and husband of Daenerys Targaryen. Extremely strong and an incredible rider and fighter. Tough, terrifying and ambitious, there is little he could not do if he were determined, despite the simplicity of Dothraki culture.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Execution - If a player is not at full health, you may instantly kill them by sending a PM to the host at night saying you would like to execute that player. Single use.
Horde Commander - During one night phase, send the host a PM stating the three players you would like to send your scouts to. You can have your scouts hurt any of those players (1 heart) or protect them from damage, or a combination. Single use.
Relentless - At the end of every even-numbered day phase, you heal one heart for every vote you had against a member of House Baratheon at the end of a phase. Wow, that was convoluted. Tell me if you need help understanding this one.

Varys
Spoiler
The Boy Who Cried Wolf, you are Varys, one of the game's third party roles. You are not aligned with the humans or the wolves.

Varys - Varys is an enigmatic figure. A eunuch who rose to become a King's Advisor thanks to his network of spies. Little happens that he does not hear about, and its a mystery where his allegiances truly lie. Also he smells really nice.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Spy - Learn a player's allegiance by sending their name to the host at night stating you would like to spy on them. 2 uses.
War Plot - Must be done one cycle ahead of time. During a night phase, tell the host that you would like to start a war. The following night phase, damage will be doubled and war will break out. Single use.
Enigmatic - Your win condition is to survive to be one of the last 4 players in this game. Non-overriding.
Knowledge - "Winter is Coming" - You will be alerted when Winter is Coming one phase ahead of time. (As in, when it strikes at night, you will be alerted at the beginning of the previous day phase.)
Knowledge - "Succession" - You know the order of succession in Westeros. When the King on the throne dies, the throne will go to the player whose name is highest on this list (who is also alive).

Yugi
Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 05:27:17 PMYugi, you are Eddard Stark, a member of the House Stark faction.

Eddard Stark - The honorable Lord of Winterfell and head of House Stark, Eddard "Ned" Stark is a man of principles. He's a good man, but very grim. He's known for repeating the words of House Stark: "Winter is Coming."

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Honor - At night, guard the player of your choice from damage. The second time you guard a player, you have a 25% of dying. The third time you guard a player, you have a 50% of dying and so on. Partaking in a Lannister lynch reduces this number by 25%, partaking in a Stark lynch increases this number by 25%, and you will not be alerted if either of these things happens.
Head of House - Send a PM to the host during a night phase containing the name of a player. If that player was a Stark, you gain a vigi to be used in a later night phase. If that vigi strikes a Lannister or White Walker, it is refreshed, otherwise it's single use. The "send in a name" is also single use; you only have one chance.
Knowledge - "Winter is Coming" - Winter is a phenomenon of the White Walkers which will damage up to 6 players with one heart of damage. You will be alerted the day phase before the night when it happens.

You also have the following false role to claim with:

Sandor Clegane
Spoiler
Yugi, you are Sandor Clegane, a member of the House Lannister faction.

Sandor Clegane - Gregor Clegane's younger brother. When he was a small boy, Gregor shoved his face into a hot fire, burning half of it, making him look pretty hideous. He's still an excellent swordsman, and incredibly loyal to House Lannister. He's no knight though, and hates all they stand for. He hates a lot of things, really.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Weakness to Fire - Fire type damage hits you twice as hard.
Bodyguard - Send the name of a player to the host saying you would like to be their bodyguard. That night phase, they take zero damage, and you take half of the damage they would have received. Single use.
Stab - Send a PM to the host at night saying you would like to stab a certain player. That player takes two hearts of damage. If you hit a Stark, this move refreshes with double damage, otherwise it's single use.
Warrior's Cunning - Learn a player's powers, but not the name of those powers or the name of the role. Single use. Activate by sending a PM to the host at night.

k-NiGhT/TZP
Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 05:35:13 PMK-NiGhT, you are Jon Snow, a member of the House Stark faction.

Jon Snow - Jon Snow is the black sheep of the Stark family, namely because he is not a Stark. Bastard children of the north are given the surname "Snow," and Catelyn Stark is not his mother. Since he won't inherit any lands or titles, he sought to find his place by joining the Night's Watch. There he watches from a wall of ice a wasteland full of ancient monsters and stuff. He carries around a torch, is very similar to his father, and has a giant wolf pet named Ghost.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Ghost - When you first take damage, although the damage will still be sustained, your pet wolf mirrors that damage back at your opponent. This can deal a maximum of 2 hearts.
Watcher - Send a PM to the host during a night phase containing the name of a player you would like to watch. The host will tell you who that player targeted during that night phase. Does not return wolfing targets unless the person you watch sent the wolfing PM. Can return multiple targets.
Burn - Send a PM to the host during a night phase containing the name of a player you would like to throw a torch at. That player takes 1 damage unless they are weak to fire. Can also burn corpses, making them impossible to revive. Single use.
Knowledge - "White Walkers" - White Walkers can "paint" themselves to take on the characteristics of certain roles. They have 5 of these paintings and each one lasts a night phase.

You also have the following false role to claim with:

Melisandre
Spoiler
K-NiGhT, you are Melisandre, a member of the House Baratheon faction.

Melisandre - A red priestess of Asshai who became a loyal follower of Stannis Baratheon. She has magic powers, many relating to the use of fire, alchemy or poison. Believes she can see things in her fires.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Power of Fire - Fire type damage heals you.
Poisoner - You are immune to being poisoned. Poisoning a Targaryen fully heals you.
Foresight - Send a PM to the host at night saying you would like to heal a certain player. In one full cycle, that player will be fully healed.

You also have the following items:
Poison - Poisons a player. Use at night by a PM to the host. A poisoned player loses one half heart every phase.
Antidote - Cures a poisoned player.

FireArrow
Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 05:43:38 PMFireArrow, you are Tyrion Lannister, a member of the House Lannister faction.

Tyrion Lannister - Tyrion is a dwarf. Not the magical kind, a person with dwarfism. And he's sort of the reject of House Lannister, since none of his family likes him, despite the fact that he often has to fix their mistakes. He's extremely witty and tricky, but weak on the battlefield because of his stature.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Fixer - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player you would like to heal. That player is healed fully. Single use.
Wit - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player you would like to make a cutting remark about. That player loses one heart of health. This is a single use move, unless you use it on a Stark. In that case, it refreshes with double damage.
Trickery - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player you would like to trick. This will cause update posts to make it look like this player has lost a heart of health when they really haven't. Single use. If this is used to make a player look like they lost their last heart, the player will be sent a PM that they are still alive.
Fragility - Despite appearing to have three hearts, you are really quite fragile and will die if you ever get down to one heart remaining.

You also have the following false role to claim with:

Lysa Arryn
Spoiler
FireArrow, you are Lysa Arryn, one of the game's third party roles.

Lysa Arryn - Lysa Arryn became unhinged when her husband died. Actually she's sort of a lunatic. She's paranoid, thinks she's seeing plots against her everywhere and has taken refuge in the mountain castle called The Eyrie. They kill people there by making them go through what is called the "Moon Door" where they fall to their deaths. Neat!

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Lunacy - Randomly deal two players one heart of damage each. Use by PMing the host at night explaining that you would like to activate lunacy.
Moon Door - Every night phase, a random player will walk in front of the Moon Door. You have the option to push them through that door, killing them. You can only kill one player this way. Every time you fail to kill a player this way, the chance that you yourself will die on the next attempt increases by 20%. So on night 1, you'll have a zero percent chance of dying if you try and kill the person, on n2 a 20% chance, on n3 a 40% chance and so on.
Plotter - Pick a night phase to activate plotter on. You will learn one power, power user and target that happened on that phase.

Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 05:54:02 PMOlimar12345, you are Tywin Lannister, a member of the House Lannister faction.

Tywin Lannister - Tywin Lannister is a wealthy, insightful, influential, and powerful man. When he was a teenager he completely exterminated a competing house, literally wiping the name "Reyne" from the Earth. He has many informants and cares about the legacy and reputation of House Lannister more than almost anything else.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Legacy - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player. If that player is a Lannister, gain a heart permanently. If that player is a Stark, lose a heart permanently. Single use.
Insight - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player. You learn that player's allegiance (Lannister/Stark/Baratheon/Targaryen/Other). Single use.
Knowledge - "Winter is Coming" - Winter is an effect brought about by the White Walkers which causes 6 players to lose one heart of health. This happens at night, and you will be alerted the day phase before it happens.
Knowledge - "State of Westeros" - When war breaks out, all damage is doubled. This happens at night, and you will be alerted the day phase before it happens. You also know the line of succession in Westeros. If the King dies, the living player who appears to have the role highest on this list will take his place.

You also have the following false role to claim with:

Robert Baratheon
Spoiler
Olimar12345, you are Robert Baratheon, a member of the House Baratheon faction.

Robert Baratheon - Robert Baratheon was once a fierce warrior and commander, crushing enemie and armies with his warhammer. Now he's sort of just a fat, lusty lecher. He still keeps up with the politics and plots of Westeros, but doesn't relish it the way other characters do. Hates the Targaryens for killing his love, Lyanna Stark.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Warhammer - Send the host a PM at night naming the player you would like to bash with your hammer. That player takes one damage and will be unable to use powers the following night phase (which they will be alerted of). Single use.
Lusty - Have an affair with target player by naming them in a PM to the host at night. If that player's role was female, you gain all your health back. Single use.
Hatred - You hate those darn Targaryens! If you start a successful lynch against a Targaryen, your powers are all refreshed.
Knowledge - "Targaryen Exiles" - You know that the two Targaryen roles in this game are Daenerys and Viserys.

shadowkirby/davy
Spoiler
Quote from: Bird on May 29, 2013, 06:16:00 PMshadowkirby, you are Gregor Clegane, a member of the House Lannister faction.

Gregor Clegane - "Tywin's Mad Dog" they call him. He's an 8-foot-tall killing machine, with the tactical skills of an ape and the scaring skills of the Bottom of the Well from Ocarina of Time. He does Tyiwn's dirty work: pillaging, killing children, you name it. His huge size, addiction to painkillers and monstrous acts have left him mostly unfeeling.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Unfeeling - Non-lethal damage does not affect you.
Stab - Send a PM to the host at night containing the name of a player you would like to stab. That player takes two hearts of damage. While this move is ordinarily single-use, if you hit a Stark, the move refreshes with double damage.
Pillage - Send a PM to the host each night phase stating which location you want to pillage.
Stark Village - 70% Success Rate - Possible Items (Heal 1 Heart, Hurt 1 Heart, Guard)
Baratheon Town - 40% Success Rate - Possible Items (Heal 2 Hearts, Hurt 2 Hearts, Determine Allegiance, Nullify)
Targaryen City - 20% Success Rate - Possible Items (Kill, Determine False Role, Determine Power)
Lannister Seaport* - 100% Success Rate - Possible Items (Revive, Determine All Powers, Determine Role)

*Pillaging a Lannister Seaport causes you to lose your allegiance with the Lannisters and damages you two hearts through Unfeeling.

You also have the following false role to claim with:

Robb Stark
Spoiler
shadowkirby, you are Robb Stark, a member of the House Stark faction.

Robb Stark - Robb Stark is the eldest son of Eddard and Catelyn Stark and will inherit Winterfell and all of its titles. Like his father, he's honorable, with a strong sense of justice, although he does have a rebellious side as well. Excellent with a sword, too.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Rebellious - If you start a successful lynch against a Lannister, you are healed and Stab is refreshed.
Stab - Send a PM to the host a night containing the name of the player you want stabbed. That player takes 2 damage.
Justice - If a Stark is killed at night, you will be alerted. You may send in three names the following night phase. If one of them is the player's attacker, you will be told. For wolves, this must be the player who sent the attack in.
Knowledge - "Winter is Coming" - You will be told when winter is coming.

Where Robert was easygoing, Stannis was stubborn and where Robert would let things slide, Stannis would deliver unflinching and merciless justice. A fierce naval commander and zealous believer in a the "Red God" of Melisandre. Also he will do whatever he can to spread information he believes to be true if it is what's right.

You have the following abilities and characteristics:

Armada - Send out two ships to protect two players from damage during one phase. Just send the names of those players to the host at night saying you want to guard them with your Armada. Single use.

Dissent - Send a PM to the host containing a message you want shared. He'll post this message in this thread at the beginning of the following phase, but players will know it was a player-written message. Single use.
Knowledge - "State of Westeros" - War is a universal effect causing damage during a night phase to be doubled. You'll be alerted that war is coming at the beginning of the preceding day phase. You also know the line of succession:

Viserys Targaryen
Spoiler
FSM-Reapr, you are Viserys Targaryen, a member of the House Targaryen faction.

Viserys Targaryen - The exiled Targaryen Prince. When Mad King Aerys was killed, the Targaryens were forced into hiding. As a result of this (or perhaps as a result of all the Targaryen inbreeding), he's gone sort of mad. Known as "The Beggar King" since he flees from place to place, begging for an army to take back the only home he ever knew. Also he gets really angry.

Man.  I really don't believe it.  Zunawe, I'm assuming you were a wolf.  Way to lay low. -_-

good game everybody.... argh

Damn. I guess I should have gone after Zunawe instead of Bubbles. Ahh well. Next time!

fank009

FINALLY, WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT...

Does it suprise me that wolves won??? Not really, Town was running around either "drunk" or with their heads chopped off.

Ill prolly right a novel with all the thoughts running through my head...
I stopped sending PMs to bird with thoughts at about day 3... felt sorry for his inbox,
I can tell you right now, Wolves had a ton load of stuff (that was semi suprising) and some other things suprised me...
(wondering if i can post that list up of what the wolves had???)

I only know what the wolves had, Nothing else.

After reviewing it...
They played a somewhat good game.

More thoughts later, When moar people come by
I come for the sheet music but stay for the ...

Bird

Part 1 is up. The size of it required me to shove a bit into FireArrow's post, but oh well. I suppose I could have just used the first and second posts rather than the second and third, but... yeah, oh well.
(2:19:33 AM) Tutan: i don't know how to twg anymore
(2:19:46 AM) bird: its easy you just yell at someone til they die

Bubbles

Zunawe knows that we would have lynched him if the humans lasted until the next day ::)

Bird

Bubbles was attacked twice on the last night phase. I was really hoping Zunawe would have attacked TZP instead. TZP would have reflected the damage back, they both would have died, and the game would have ended with every player dead except Mashi, the undead thrall.

Oh well.

More on that kind of stuff in Part 2 and 3.

(2:19:46 AM) bird: its easy you just yell at someone til they die

TheZeldaPianist275

Yeah, how did we lose 3 last night?  Man, we were so close.... yeah, Zunawe would undoubtedly have been the lynch.

Liggy

TZP was still irrationally paranoid, because if I was a wolf, I would have known he was Stark and I would have just disguised as Varys anyways.

Toby was also irrationally paranoid, because he swapped out two names which made his succession list wrong.  Had it been right, I honestly wouldn't care that he was a wolf!

TheZeldaPianist275

I'm sorry Liggy D:

Assuming you knew the order of succession?

FireArrow

Zunawe?! You were the last person I would think to be a wolf!

You made it very, very clear that Varys was higher up in the list than you were.

Additionally, the list I gave you I believe was entirely right except for two names, which I honestly would have loved to know.

QuoteVengeance - Send in the name of a Targaryen on Night 2 and a Baratheon on Night 3. If successful, the Baratheon dies, you and the Targaryen are healed, and your other abilities are recharged.
Before anyone asks Why i played the way i played ("hunting" olimar and firearrow down)
Thats the reason.

I must say, Thanks for the wolves, For at least letting me talk to bird (somewhat)

I never saw myself as a "powerful role".
I over estimated The Wolves revive, And was scared of losing my one shot revive, just like that.

Fire was great, But i didnt feel like it was all that special being 1 shot, And hence my quest to get double the power
(yes i was greedy :/)

To my "alliance"
Sorry for not speaking to you, Some facts i should have shared,
-the idea of "liggy joining"
-Me thinking that i was a dead man (after FSM's Post) (that reminds me... Why didnt you try to lynch me???)
I was afraid of acting wolfish by taking control (broke a fanks rule...) so maybe thats also a bit of loss there,

I was hoping that you could see both of my roles... and from what i have given, Understand the danger of said roles if i were a wolf... but eh... My fault to trying to use that card as a reason of my humanity.

Im going to go through again, and make a huge list of all things missed xD
