Well, How do you make arrangements? Isnt by ear?
its very simple but you most have a great capacity of concentration.

currently I arrange by loading up a MIDI file into NotePad, then selecting instruments to include and swapping notes around and adding layers until it seems a close to the original as possible. But I would like to know how to arrange by ear! Any tips or help?

Its simple, but complicated
1st, you need to ear ALL the instruments that are playing. Then try to listen what they are playing carufully!.
At last, you just have to write the song, but look out with the dissonance. And you must pay attencion at the"playable" factor. you must make a good and complete music, but you also have see if the song is playable. its like a puzzle.
If you do this, you willl not have much difficult but you have to listen VERY VERY WELL!!
