Libera's Arrangements
« on: July 10, 2018, 06:01:39 PM »

I still haven't got my keyboard yet :(, but I thought I'd put something up (at least so this topic is already running so I won't procrastinate later over it).

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Afterglow: [Musx] [Pdf] [Midi] [Mus]

Fire Emblem (Flaming Sword)
Girl of the Plains: Lyn's Theme: [Musx] [Pdf] [Midi] [Mus]
Curing: [Musx] [Pdf] [Midi] [Mus]
Black Fang: [Musx] [Pdf] [Midi] [Mus]
Strike: [Musx] [Pdf] [Midi] [Mus]

(I'm not entirely how you make the link appear as something other than its url, so if anyone could help with that as well that would be wonderful. Yay!  Also I haven't used dropbox before so there could very well be something wrong in that regard as well.)

I'm sure there will be something wrong with this sheet as its my first but I hope its not awful.  As such I tried to pick something short.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated and hopefully my keyboard should arrive soon(ish) and I can do some more arranging.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Few minor comments from myself:

- song title isn't bolded
- game name isn't displayed
- the measure distribution is a little uneven (try 3 measures in the first system and 3 more in the second)
- the amount the LH has to stretch is a bit iffy. Try picturing without a keyboard how your hand would play that

To answer your question about hyperlinks, here's how one might look:

Code: [Select]
[url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3ls2y_2UHM]Lol look it's a repost[/url]
Also, see the "=0" at the end of a DB link? Change it to "=1", and the link can download immediately. Feel free to ask any more questions!

Thanks for the feedback, especially regarding markup and hints about dropbox.  I think I've corrected all of your comments.  With regards to the left-hand, I kept everything to no more than a 10th which I thought was standard as the most one should ask for in a stretch.

Hi and welcome!

One thing: a good part of the people here don't have any paid version of finale, and therefore can't open musx. You should probably post at least a .mus, and (if possible) a midi and a PDF for those browsing the forums on mobile.

Done, mostly. I'm not sure how to save the file as an .mus file as I can't see that option anywhere... :/  Scratch that, I found it.

New sheet, this one's a little bit more ambitious than the previous one.  Still haven't got a new keyboard yet but I hopefully should have one on Saturday (hype).

Edit: Here's the link.

Another new sheet, this time Curing from Fire Emblem (Flaming Sword).  To be honest this one is a bit of joke.  I've no idea how to write it in a way that's good that doesn't require the 11th stretch (I can make it but I agree its asking too much).  I probably won't submit this but I'll keep it here just in case.

A suggestion from me: in each new post, you should include a duplicate of the Dropbox link in the original post. This way, people don't have to scroll up each time.

If you want to know how to get rid of the accidentals in m17 of Girl of the Plains, just change one of they key signatures to match the other (pt 1 to minor, or pt 2 to major).

Thanks Maelstrom!  I wasn't sure what you meant at first, but I've done it now (and looks a lot better).  Also edited in links to my new posts and I'll do that from now on, thanks LeviR.star!

Also I discovered that you can update versions of files on dropbox without losing the links, which is amazing.  (I'm sure everyone knew this apart from me.)

New sheet (Black Fang from, you guessed it: Fire Emblem).  This is actually pretty fun and I wish I'd started doing it sooner.  At what point do people usually submit sheets properly?

Well, honestly, that's really up to you. It's not uncommon for someone to create an account, immediately submit an unformatted arrangement, and then never show up to respond to critiques or post anything else. In your case, since you already have the Formatting Guidelines down and are striving to make your arrangements playable, I say go ahead and submit whenever you feel ready. We're trying to get people to leave some critiques in people's Personal Arrangement Threads before submitting so that the Updaters don't have to do as much legwork, but yours already look pretty good.

That's fair enough.  I can imagine what you just described getting pretty annoying for the updaters, so I'll do my best to respond to critique in the submission process.  Thanks for the reply!

Another new Flaming Sword sheet: Strike.  Also I have finally crossed the long desert that is not having a keyboard and now it's raining (or something).
