Quote from: FireArrow on April 19, 2017, 02:11:12 PMThe purpose of a key signature is not to help the reader with accidentals, but to show the tonic/tonal center yes? I'm personally against no key signature songs that are obviously not centered around C or A, technically allowable or not.
Yeah, I agree, although no key signature is also fine if the piece is atonal. The beginning of this is piece is kinda atonal... But the rest isn't. This should definitely be written using Bb minor key signature, even if you find it less readable (I don't even agree on this point since you would just need to use the alterations more carefully). You need an example in which this is done? Chopin Sonata N. 2, fourth movement (pages 17~19). There are a lot of alterations in the piece, and it doesn't even seem much "tonal" sometimes, but it's written with Bb minor key signature, since it ends pretty clearly in Bb minor.
This piece, on the other hand, doesn't have an ending, but it's clearly moving around Bb flat minor. So, at least in my opinion, it should be written with that key signature.

I don't quite get what you mean, but see if this is fine.

This is a non-30-minute version:
It's ok, I'll do it.
Quote from: ThatHiddenCharacter on April 18, 2017, 02:14:00 PM30-minute videos can sometimes make things easier because the arranger doesn't have to restart the video over and over again.
Actually, I download the mp3, so I can put that into Audacity and be a lot more accurate (since I can do whatever I want do the audio, sometimes it's useful to raise or lower by an octave for example). A 30-minute version would just be a longer download for me, I would cut it when I put it into Audacity.

I'm done with the arrangement.

2 new arrangements:
[NDS] – Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky
Vast Ice Mountain PeakOriginalMIDIMUSMUSXPDF
[NS] – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Main ThemeOriginalMIDIMUSMUSXPDF
I put a lot of effort in both of this arrangements. They both contain fingerings, when I thought it was necessary, and I tried to put the best fingering, at least for my hand, studying several possibilities. I also tried to be pretty precise with the dynamics. For example, I used every dynamic between ppp and ffff in the Main Theme ;D (It wasn't intentional)

I also did some corrections to Parasailing Minigame, so I updated the links of that.

New arrangement:

I wanted to publish this one, even though I'm not done with this other one yet. Left hand is pretty hard in this arrangement, if you have small hands. In that case, I would suggest to not play all the notes. On the other hand, if you have large hands, playing all the notes shouldn't be too hard (I can do it without too much trouble).

Congratulations on your 3 years, and wow that's indeed a pretty long one. I listened to it following the score, and I noticed these things:
  • In m4, m8 and similar, I'm hearing a D♭ in the right hand (I'm hearing G A♭ C D♭ F). That's probably because the registration of the organ that is used plays the notes in the higher octave as well. I would put it anyway since I hear it.
  • There's probably a missing repeat bar line in m57 (m54~m57 should repeat 2 times). Also check the following things though.
  • In m62, m63 and similar, I would write the last chord of the right hand of m62 B E A B, and the last chord of the right hand of m63 A♯ D♯ G♯ A♯. That would sound a little closer to the original probably.
  • Following what the music does, I would probably change completely how you wrote m54~m81, saving quite a few bars: I would fully write the repetition of m54~m57, put a repeat bar line in m65 (that would actually become m69), and delete m66~m81 (that would actually be m70~m85). Then, also delete m99~102 (I'm too lazy to calculate what bars those would be lol), and put another repeat bar line in m98. That would save quite a few bars, and you could easily fit everything in 9 pages after this.
  • m87, the E in the right hand should be E♮.
  • m88, the metronome mark should definitely be over the first note of the bar.
  • m90, I'm definitely hearing an A♮ in the third and fourth beat. It's probably G A♮ F in the right hand.
  • m91, I don't think it's a quintuplet. I would write it as two tuplets, or a sextuplet (with the pause being the first "note").
  • m93~m97, the alterations look pretty strange to me, you should probably change key signature.
  • m107, there's something happening in the left hand that you definitely didn't write. Any reason?
  • m133, C♭ should actually be B, since it's counterpointistically moving to C (there are other wrong accidentals but I'm too lazy to list every single one).
  • m136, in the right hand, I'm hearing E♭ G♭ B♭ D♭, instead of what you wrote.
  • The repeat bar line in m103 should actually be moved to m105, as you can easily hear in the OST.
  • m146 onwards, yeah, I won't check those today LOL.

Anyway, nice job! :)

I hear a couple acciaccaturas missing: the one in m17 seems to be a double acciaccatura but that may as well be a simplified version so it's fine, there's one in m27, m29, m35 (which is like m33), and m37.

That's a pretty good soundtrack indeed ;)

You really like the OST of this game, judging by the numerous requests you did ;) I haven't finished Vast Ice Mountain Peak yet, unfortunately, even though I'm pretty close to finishing it, since I'm currently busy finishing quite a few compositions (not related to videogames). Anyway, I already planned to transcribe something else from BotW, so I don't know if I'll do these requests, but I won't do them now for sure.

I've read what Olimar wrote, that was my opinion on the argument: I think it wouldn't be a problem writing the whole piece in one staff, I don't see why a change in staves would be necessary. Just my opinion.
#45
Actually, I think Bespinben's idea is also really nice. The lower note you wrote in the piece can be written in the treble clef with only 2 ledger lines, and you're already using 4 ledger lines in the beginning for the higher notes. So, I don't see how this can be a problem for you. You could literally write the entire piece using only one staff. I can even give you an example in which something similar is done:
Spoiler

That's from Marc-André Hamelin's fifth etude. Notice how the last bar in the image totally avoids any problem. Also notice that the presence of ledger lines isn't really a problem.

If you really don't want to change your score it's fine anyway.
