I started checking this a few months ago but... didn't get too far. There are so many notes x.x May as well post what I found so far, though. I think I finished section A.

- Measure 8, spelling. Stick with the F#. Same with 17.
- Measure 9 beat 2.5 top staff (melody), 32nd note D should be an Eb.
- If you're denoting different sections with rehearsal markings, separate them with double barlines. Also use double barlines at key changes.

Hi, just popping in here to (hopefully) finally help finish this one off. Just a bunch of really tiny visual things.

- End the bracket in m. 2 at the barline.
- Optimize space on page 1 to allow a bit more room around the third system.
- Move the 8vb just a bit down at m. 25.
- Fix rest heights in m. 29 piano 1.
- Nudge dynamics in a few places to give them a bit more space.
- Flip the tie between m. 47-48 piano 1 LH.
- End the 8va on the last note of the last measure (piano 1 RH) instead of arbitrarily after. (This also makes a bit more room for the D.C.)

Once again, nice work.

Thanks! ^_^

Quote from: JDMEK5 on May 06, 2018, 12:20:35 PM- Measure 12, LH: This pattern of repeated eighth note chords (and everywhere else it appears), makes me wonder if you wouldn't want accents instead of staccatos here. I feel like just the emphasis will provide the sense of separation you're looking for, though you could also use the accent and staccato together. Staccato alone doesn't indicate the kind of stress I'm getting from the original.
I sort of wanted the "separated" feeling here without actually putting any extra force to make it louder, if that makes any sense. This section is noticeably quieter than the rest of the song, and I wanted to keep the pulse going while keeping the left hand feeling light.

Quote from: JDMEK5 on May 06, 2018, 12:20:35 PM- Measures 12-15: Consider placing some dynamics in here to help distinguish between what you would consider main melody and background responses. Unless you consider all main melody. Any way you want it is fine (even as you have it now); I just wanted to offer that thought to you in case you wanted to try playing with it.
I think I'll keep it as is here. There's not a whole lot of dynamic variation here, and the change in register/octave I feel does a good enough job of differentiating each small phrase. Thanks for bringing it up though!

Agree with m. 5. I wouldn't say they're necessary in 16.

I don't appreciate the snark here... this is clearly just asking someone who's reviewed it more recently about the current status of the sheet (i.e. their current thoughts on it).

oh whoops I'll get that next time sorry

Quote from: FireArrow on May 09, 2018, 07:34:43 PMI plan on fixing it up if that's what you mean?
Yeah I remember we talked about this last time, it's cool

Looks neat! There's a fair amount you can do to spice it up though. What makes the original sound distinctive? Well, looking at that intro, there's a strong pulse in the bass, so you could make every other note octaves. In the following section, the kick drum (or whatever you call it) emphasizes beats 2 and 4, so emphasize that in your left hand part as well. Raise the G an octave, or play an octave, or something. Experiment and see what you can do to improve the sound.

Oh, and accidentals in m. 21 - yes, it's chromatically ascending A>A#>B, but it's just so much easier to read the A# chord as a Bb chord (also notes in the Bb chord are also already in the keysig).

Good work. Looks solid. However, this is a perfect piece to learn about accidentals!

Feedback (mostly accidentals) -
- m. 8 beat 1.5: Either spell as B (B/D#/F#) or Cb (Cb/Eb/Gb) - I'd recommend the former
- m. 8 beat 2.5: Db-->C# (A major chord)
- m. 8 beat 3.5: should be C# not Cn
- m. 9: harmony in RH should call on beat 2 not 1.5
- m. 9 beat 3.5: should be G# not Ab (neighboring accidental to the A)
- m. 11 beat 3: should be Ab not G# (chromatically descending from A to G, as well as not to clash with the G in the left hand)
- m. 12 beat 1: should have a courtesy natural as it directly follows the E flat
- m. 15 beat 4.5: either change this to D# or add a courtesy natural in the next measure
- m. 18 beat 2: should be D# not Eb (neighboring accidental to the E)
- m. 20 beat 4 (LH): should be G# not Ab (neighboring accidental to the A)
- There's a bit more going on in the right hand of that last measure - there's a G on beat 2.5 and B flats above the dyads on 3-3.5.

And there's a bunch of eighth rests that aren't on center staff, or too close to other things. But when you're done fixing the notes and accidentals, I can polish up everything for you because Notepad.

Great work! I do have some relatively minor comments, though.
  • Things seem a bit pushed towards the top of page 2. I'd recommend lowering everything a bit since you've got ample space at the bottom. Also think about perhaps decreasing space between LH/RH staves here since it's not being used.
  • Could we resolve the melody to a high A flat in measure 35 instead of including the lower E flat in the right hand? That voice really wants to finish ascending from the G natural. Similarly, I think it would be best to include the lead-in to the next section at the end of m. 41 (repeated C flats leading into the D flat).
  • How about just extending the 8va over m. 43-44?
  • Just a stylistic point here, but what would you think about filling in the chords a bit more in the climax at m. 47 and 49 for a more powerful effect?

Without judging accuracy at all... I can tell this arrangement needs some work. Remember, writing for two pianos isn't just dumping all the voices on four staves and calling it a day. Some things to consider:
  • Why is piano 2 sitting idly while piano 1 plays both parts of the complex intro? Would it not be easier to let one person play the sextuplets using both hands?
  • In measure 3+ there are a lot of clashing parts in the bass clef register for both hands of piano 1, while piano 2 isn't doing anything in that range and can easily take one of the voices.
  • The measure distribution leaves a lot to be desired. Measure 18 cramps the whole system. Page 4 has tons of unused space you can use to loosen up the B section and make the complex rhythms easier to read.
  • Why write piano 1's B section entirely on the top staff? There's a lot of ledger lines and it would be certainly help things if the left hand took some of the lower parts of the chords or tuplets.
Sorry if this comes off as harsh. The arrangement just needs a lot of care in order to become a polished product.

Would you mind if I combined my sheet and yours for a collaboration? Mine's almost done and yours still needs a fair bit of cleanup.

(And yes, I'm currently still planning on finishing all my claims.)

Hi all, here to get things organized for the project once more, so please read this post if you're contributing to the project.

Item #1
I've updated the status of each sheet in the OP, and files should be correctly placed in the [Dropbox folder]. Please let me know if the status of any sheet needs to be updated, or if a sheet needs to be placed or updated in the Dropbox folder.

Item #2
I've created a new status color for sheets that are waiting on the arranger to update it. In case you've missed any of the posts I or someone else has made, you need to respond to feedback. Here are the ones currently in that status - please respond when you get a chance.

Item #3
In several weeks I will purge all claims on unfinished sheets at the end of the month unless you still express the desire to finish them. This project will need to get wrapped up at some point, and we need to get a clearer read on what there is actually left to do. There's been ample time already, but of course I'm also guilty of forgetting about some of my claims, so I don't expect anyone to have everything done; I'm just checking up on the progress. Anyway, here they are, and to reiterate, please post saying if you still intend on finishing any of these, otherwise I'll unmark them as claimed at the end of the month.

Please consider helping to review our remaining sheets! The reason that this is a community project is so that everyone can be involved in both arranging and reviewing sheets - it doesn't really help the community if a few of the updaters just binge-review all the sheets. I encourage you to take a look at what people have arranged, and offer whatever thoughts you may have. Closely inspecting the work of others is crucial to one's growth as an arranger, as well!

Hello all! It's been rather quiet here lately. Here's something to change that! ;)

We decided to split the Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum project up into four smaller updates. This will allow us to showcase each sheet better and make the sheets accessible earlier! Some of these here sheets have already been sitting here for a year or two... including a few sorely needed replacements.

While the first batch is done, there's still a long way to go. As always, any help reviewing would be much appreciated! *wink wink* Until next time!
