Music / Re: Who Plays What?

I play flute, tenor sax, percussion, and I sing. The only one I don't practice regularly anymore is percussion, and the last I played it in an ensemble (other than marching band) was in an all-region band two years go

I think in measure 5 that last rhythm in the right hand should be and eigth tied to a sixteenth and then a dotted eighth, rather than the other way around. Just looks more natural that way. Also, near the end, where the rhythms in the right and left hands are the same, they should be notated as such. I would change the left hand.

Quote from: master_gamer38 on August 28, 2011, 11:43:29 AMIt doesn't look good for the site to only have a few things there. Once there is a large quantity of quality ones.

Quote from: IAmYou on August 28, 2011, 10:58:52 AMWhat I want to know is how they plan on finding out the quality and amount of these arrangements if we can't submit them.

I'm guessing that for some reason since there aren't a lot they don't want to put them up?

What I want to know is how they plan on finding out the quality and amount of these arrangements if we can't submit them.

Help! / Re: Calling all arrangers!! Tetris Type A!!

Yeah, I'm a flute player, so that just caught my eye. I know I'd be annoyed if the piccolo got a part I could play (though I'd be playing piccolo anyway so  :P)

Well, what I meant about ranges is that looking at the parts as written would make it easier to keep it in range and not get carried away. At least for me. But maybe I'm just weird *shrug*

Well as long as the Bari Sax player is good it's fine. If he weren't so good it would be difficult XD.

So here's an arrangement of Lux Aeterna from the film Requiem for a Dream that I started on a while back. It's arranged for a small Wind Ensemble, and I'd very much like some feedback.

Here's the original, and this is what I've arranged so far: MUS

I've listened to what you have so far, and it sounds great. I do have a couple questions, though.

In bars 13-16, is there any particular reason for having the piccolo play that part and not the flutes? That A isn't very difficult to reach. Especially if you kept it to first flutes, and they'd definitely project better on those lower notes. Just wondering.

Are you writing this in concert pitch? Because that's what the file was in when I opened it. If so, I'd advise transposing, because it'll make it much easier for ranges and such.

Is your Bari Sax player very good? Those low As could be kind of hard to reach, especially slurring from a higher note. You might want to give that part to the tuba, too, for that recurring rhythm.

You are, in fact, notating the timpani rolls correctly.

Paper Mario 3DS, first and foremost. I JUST WANT SOME GOOD FOOTAGE IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK

And a trailer for SS, and the Cafe. That's really all I care too much about. OH, have you guys heard about this? It's really interesting, and I really hope it's true.

Snivy and his evos are only really very good for defense. They aren't very remarkable. Tepig or Oshawott would be the way to go for stats. Snivy and his evos look better, though, and I picked him my first time through.

Music / Re: I <3 Soundtracks
March 24, 2011, 05:45:46 PM
Pixar films can have some really good soundtracks. For example, Married Life from Up.

Married Life

OH THE TEARS T_T

And The Incredibles has one of my favorite soundtracks of any movie ever

The Glory Days

And also Danny Elfman.

Oh dear lord Danny Elfman.

Alright, I have the arrangement finished. It hasn't turned out as well as I'd hoped it would, and it's pretty short. I think I might just have lost interest in it, to be honest.

A note, the bassoon double the bari sax part after they rejoin during the second melody, because apparently saxophones play quietly in Finale world.

I might just not be good at arrangements like this, or maybe its the instruments I'm arranging it for. All I know is I don't like it :P. It might also be that I don't have a clearly set goal. With my composition, I was in a contest, and was given something to model it after, and a goal for how it should sound. I think that's what's wrong with this.
