Quote from: MaestroUGC on November 17, 2013, 06:32:09 AMOk, first a few things. I'm not very familiar with the original, so I'm just going to comment on a few standard things.

1) Look into getting some version of Finale. There is a free version called Finale Notepad, and while I wouldn't recommend it for any actual composing, for arranging it is enough to get started. It's the standard format this site uses (.mus) and your arrangements won't be accepted without it.

2) You sheet must meet our Formatting Standards before it would even be considered being added on the site.

3) Your right hand parts are in 8va for the entire thing, which isn't necessary; those parts never go higher than D6, which is only 2 ledger lines above the staff. You also have some moments where the Piano 1 Left hand in 8va, you could simply put it in treble clef and it would be fine.. You then have the Piano 2 Right hand going well above the staff and an 8vb marking, just drop it down an octave.

4) You've got some issues with rhythmic notation, but basically each beat should easily distinguished in syncopations, mainly only the third beat. (Instead of dotted quarter, dotted quarter, quarter; it should read dotted quarter, eight tied to quarter, quarter in measure 5 and wherever else that pattern appears).

5) Measure 3-4 of the Piano 1 part has the right hand reach a tenth, you could put the bottom thirds in the left hand for the first four measures and have the right hand play the octave above in measures 3-4.

That's about all I noticed at a first glance. It sounds solid though, so good work.

I really appreciate you took some of your precious time to look over my arrangement, and I tried really hard to fix what you've told me to, buuuuutt... well...

1) I tried, I did, and I have no idea what to do with it.

2) Asdfghj I tried modifying the PDF, but I don't know if it's just me being retarded, but I can't seem to modify it.

3) Alright, removed the 8va from P1R. I tried putting the treble clef, but the program I'm using (Guitar Pro 5) just won't allow me to change the clef mid-song. And for the P2R problem, I changed the 8va to 15ma and removed the lower octave notes on the ones you told me to drop down an octave.

4) I tried modifying the whole thing wherever I found that pattern or something similar, and I must tell you, HO BOY THAT TOOK A WHILE! *cough cough* But I did it, and I feel proud.

5) Yeaaaaah, that's a problem with me, I first make it so it's more similar to the actual song, and only THEN I think if it's possible to be played by a human being. Either way, I fixed that issue.

And again, thank you for going through my horrible music skills to tell me whatever I needed to fix.
Here are the MIDI and the PDF again, with all the alterations I could apply. (Still IDK about that .mus thing... why is it even needed?)

Nevermind that, looks like I somehow managed to get over the difficult part of the song and managed to make the Piano Duet Arrangement of "Try, Try Again". I would really appreciate if anyone has any kind of constructive criticism for me.

I would like to start making my own arrangements of awesome VGM, starting with some of the songs from the very awesome sauce game "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (Bros.)".
I'd start by posting a MIDI of an arrangement of the song "Try, Try Again"(asdfgh 2nd best song in the game, in my opinion, can't stop listening to it), buuuuuuutt there are some parts of the song that takes quite a long time for me to arrange, so I'll post again in this thread after I managed to successfully create the MIDI and the PDF files.
'Cy'all in about a month, when I get inspiration or when I stop being lazy.

In all seriousness, though, welcome to NSM!

Welp, guess it's time I introduce myself.

My alias I will use for this website is "AdipemDragon"(if you haven't figured THAT out so far, that means you're blind or something) and everyone just keeps calling me "Adi" or "Dragon" or whatever...
I guess I should tell some things about me, but I have no idea what to say that won't make anyone upchuck...

Obviously I like VG Music, 'cause I don't think there would be like... Any other reason to join this (possibly awesome) community.
I compose loads of songs myself and I'm pretty good at doing it, I think...

Aaaaaand because I lack anything else to say, I guess I'll see you in the Personal Arrangement Thread in order to post my own arrangements of VG Music that I simply can't find anywhere on the website and hopefully get it in the following updates if it's good enough for Olimar or the others.

Peace, Y'all!
