And quarter notes followed by eighth rests are not unusual to triple meter in the slightest. Look up any march in 6/8. Hell, you might even find examples of both in the same piece!

Guess-That-Melody Quiz: MSF Round 23

Okay this one gets kind of hard ngl... but have fun anyways

I don't have much to add to your post other than to say I agree with most of it. I just know I've been on Brainy's case before for similar reasons and he just ended up being a jumpy PR. If he's human this game, he's garunteed to be a PR, which makes me a little unsure.

I mean also the thing this game tho is that since everyone's a PR it doesn't necessarily make any particular PR more valuable/special than the rest so he shouldn't have any reason to be jumpy if he's in the same boat as all the other humans...

9
jesus I've spent over the last hour straight on this game and I have work to do sorry guys I'm probably not gonna get to that other post tonight G_G

(but I will check in periodically and maybe respond a little here or there based on what people think about my post against Brainy)

10
Points against Brainy:

Hey everyone. I'm here and ready to die first again
Oh. So I actually have a chance of playing this time.

First of all, this. He keeps acting like he's going to be lynched first thing—which as a wolf could be a (admittedly weak, but this is Brainy we're talking about) attempt to avoid being "mistakenly" lynched by humans first day because of his poor playing. Maybe this falls under Brainy's general playstyle, but this doesn't seem like a thing he'd do game after game and quite frankly I just see zero reason for any decent human to say this. You're supposed to be helping the team, not complaining about how everyone on your own team will turn against you.

If anyone's interested I graduated high school today. Woohoo. Do I still have to make two more posts to stay in the game?

Not only are you complaining about the post count, but you make it sound like you don't plan to contribute anything at all in any more posts you make—just because you don't want to. A human would want to, naturally? If you really are human then don't just be like "I don't feel like participating, do I really have to play?" You literally contributed nothing up to there and yet you still question the fact that you're expected to contribute more to keep playing? Are you serious?

When I posted this, I was mostly doing so to try and give an excuse to me being inactive so that Noc wouldn't cut me from the game.

I vaguely remember someone in the 100th saying that E. Gadd seemed human even though he wasn't particularly inactive just because he was always saying that he'd keep checking in even though he was busy. Here, you're not even like "I'll try my best to participate." You're just like "I don't really want to play this game but I just needed some way not to lose the game." You invest none of the effort that a serious human player actually would—and to me that gives off the red flag of a wolf who's trying to slide under the radar under the premise that they're simply just too busy to play.

The fact of the matter is is that you yourself called your post about graduation an excuse—a rather negatively connoted word that suggests that it's not the truth, but instead something that you said in order to get yourself out of a tough spot of appearing wolfy by being off topic. I don't see any reason why a human player would feel the need to justify their own previous post in such a manner—especially when your post got called out for not being contributory you do nothing but defend it and ask for examples from a previous game and not actually GET YOURSELF on topic with the game like you've just been warned to do. To me this is all signs of a wolf trying to distract the focus away from the focus of the conversation at hand.

Also, you call this my normal play style? Since when have I ever been worried about being kicked from the game? This is the first time I'be ever played with a post criteria.

Since when should you be worried about being kicked from the game if you're a legitimate human player who can just PLAY THE GAME LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED? Yes it's the first time there's a post count but it's not the first time you're expect to, like, make posts??? For an invested human player five posts should really be nothing major... this to me looks like someone who just wishes they could draw less attention to themselves than they're explicitly obligated to do now—since, after all, in previous games, players like FA and BDS draw quite a bit of attention to themselves while inactives can rather easily slide under the lynch radar.

You're pushing for easy lynches with the reasoning that they're just going to get in the way. Not only is that the wrong way to go about lynching, it's also really weak reasoning.

I don't particularly disagree with FA when he says that this gives off a human read (potentially). But it does absolutely nothing to change the fact that you reek of suspicion.

I imagine I'm coming off as overly aggressively critical towards Brainy, but to be perfectly honest his poor playing so far has so thoroughly pissed me off that I really don't have an easy time imagining him as human. If you have anything LEGITIMATE or HELPFUL to CONTRIBUTE in order to support the argument that you're human then by all means feel free to—but you've been given a night and half a day phase to do it and the only thing you've really done is freak out about being lynched/cut. This just looks to me like a frantic wolf who doesn't know how to play like a human and hopes to make themselves seem legitimately worried about the rules of the game so they don't lose the game for the wolf team.

*deep exhale*

Okay that went on a lot longer than I expected it to. You might call Brainy low-hanging fruit but another part of the reason why I'm voting for him is that I'm getting at least some human-y vibes from everyone else, so it'd be hard for me to pick another lynch target at the moment. I'll split it up here and write another post about the vibes I'm getting from everyone else (which thankfully are much more positive than Brainy's)—but this took a while and I'm tired and I have work to do tonight (and the power might still go out) so frankly I'm not sure I'll even bother finishing it tonight or not @_@

11
There's a huge sudden thunderstorm going on right now and I'm afraid I'm going to lose power before I finish typing up the post I'm about to make so... I'm just going to get this in first in case I don't finish this next post in time.

Brainy

Details to follow (possibly).

12
To be honest I'm just gonna ignore the stuff between FA and BDS for now because it reads to me a lot like the stuff BDS got into last game, which I obviously interpreted incorrectly. So I'll just withhold judgment for now.

Upon a reread I found it interesting that both MSF and Trasdegi got into discussing whether humans should claim or not, when Mikey more or less explicitly told us that it was a bad idea in the setup. (Especially since Toby was actively posting and didn't really address it directly.) One thing that stuck out to me in particular was that Trasdegi was initially in favor of claims before lynches, and then he backtracked, but only after Toby threw suspicion at him.

I mean, massclaiming and claiming to defend yourself from a lynch aren't necessarily the same thing—though, I definitely made the argument that claiming to defend oneself was a bad idea in the end because it could end up leading to massclaiming if the lynch focus kept on changing.

I'm not really sure how to feel about Tras at the moment—he is kind of enthusiastic, moreso than previous games (besides Sombra... where he was the wolf), but he was around from the start and didn't have to catch up on a lot of posts, as well as likely being more driven to contribute by mikey's post requirement. Trasdegi talking about claiming before lynches before Toby called on him on there being cardflips seems out of place, but I don't understand why a wolf would feel the need to post such an obviously erroneous piece of advice—I think it was just a mistake in interpretation, whether or not Tras is a wolf. I'm going to withhold judgment on Tras right now since I don't really see a strong case for him being either a human or a wolf.

As for the message that Toby sent Greg and this whole argument going on being FA and BDS, it's 1:22 AM for me right now and I'm kind of tired. I'll get back to this in the morning—I just popped it to check briefly and decided that I might as well say something for the time being.

13
I'm not sure what to make of this statement. It is kinda wierd to say power stealing would be completely useless based off of Toby's and your powers alone. For a moment, I thought you might be a wolf knowing some other wolf's power, but I realised that wolves don't have any private communication (right noct?), so that can't be it.

Wolves have access to a pregame chat and nightchat but cannot communicate during the day.

14
I think he means "if the wolves know the role list, if there are no cardflips, if whem the wolves link people to a role they die, and if someone claims before being lynched, then it's easier for the wolves to link roles (1 role less to link) and therefore the humans shouldn't claim before being lynched". I agree with this logic.

Basically this.

Except now that we know there are cardflips I'm a bit confused... I think this means that the wolves don't have a list of all the roles and are trying to match each person to their role; otherwise it'd be way too easy once the pool of players gets smaller. Either that or... maybe the wolves just have a list of potential roles that people could be (not necessarily in the game) and/or duplicate roles are possible?

I think it would still be better not to claim before getting lynched, since the wolves might still have this instakill power of knowing a human's role even if they don't have a set list of all the human roles to match with players. Not only that, but if we started claiming before getting lynched, it might lead to the lynch focus constantly switching from player to player as each one claims to defend themselves—essentially massclaiming, which is what the rules post specifically says this game is designed to punish. The wolves could probably fake special roles easily enough, so it really wouldn't help us narrow it down much anyways...

15
@mikey Wait are there cardflips? I don't see anything about it in the OP (though if Toby is right about the wolves' power I would assume there are no cardflips or else it makes matching the roles significantly easier)

Another thought: If a human is about to be lynched, should they claim? Since the roles are unknown yet the game is designed against massclaiming, I'm tempted to believe the answer is no. I think the biggest question mark is how exactly humans get punished if someone claims while they're about to be lynched. I didn't think the wolves' power was as drastic as Toby had proposed (instakill for figuring out roles) but a setup that way would ensure that no human gets to save their life by claiming. Plus, (still going off the assumption of Toby's proposal) revealing your role helps the wolves narrow down what roles the other players could be. Assuming no cardflips, it'd be better to get lynched without revealing your role.

tl;dr probably DON'T CLAIM if you're about to get lynched
