One night, I was bored out of my mind so I bought Art Academy Home Studio. It's awesome! I never really considered myself an artist but this 'game' (if you can call it that) does a really good job of teaching the basic art lessons any artist would teach, but in a totally clean, easy environment. I'm not trying to sell the product but it's been really cool so far. Here's a couple images I have from the lessons:
Those are MiiVerse links so I have no idea if they will stay up or display properly in the future...
I like that this game doesn't restrict you too much, and that it actually shows the artist's (Vince???) demonstration in real-time. They also treat every tool like it's real-life counterpart, which is inspiring because it makes me feel like going out and actually buying these materials when I finish the lessons. My only gripe about the program so far (I just finished the strawberry lesson) is that I'm not able to rotate the TV image upside-down, which is a common beginner's drawing technique and would help immensely. I also wish I could use a "trace" mode in free paint to, for example, practice drawing Vince's artwork. Still, this program is really cool and if you suck at art I highly recommend it!
