Music / Re: Multiple note-lengths in same bar in Finale

Quote from: FireArrow on November 10, 2014, 10:55:59 PMThere should be little numbers in the bottom left corner of your screen, these indicate which layer you're currently in. If you change to the second layer (click on the 2), your notes can be placed with no consideration of the ones in the first layer.
THAT'S what those are! I thought it was the page numbers or something, haha. I was wondering why I could go up to page 8 when only numbers 1-4 were showing. Thanks for the help, guys! I think I'll probably call them "layers". Doesn't "Voices" also refer to multiple instruments on the same sheet, or am I completely off my rocker?

Music / Multiple note-lengths in same bar in Finale
November 10, 2014, 10:37:55 PM
This seems fairly common for piano pieces, but I can't seem to find any notation software that actually has a means of arranging it. Also, I have no idea of there's a proper term for it, or really how to describe it, so here's a picture:

Basically, the notes are played as a chord, then one note is held while the other continues the melody. Is there a simple way to arrange this in NotePad? I can't seem to have asynchronous notes happening in the same score.

Request / Re: [SNES] Final Fantasy VI - "Coin Song"

Hell yeah, thanks!

Man, I've SERIOUSLY gotta get around to playing/beating this game so I can get some context for this song, and the opera, and ALL of the phenomenal music in it.

Haha sweet. Well in that case, I'm still hoping someone can notate this overshadowed tune.

...Is "notate" the right word to use for writing sheetmusic? There are like 5 words I could've used and none seem quite right to me.

I thought I saw this on the site at some point, but it doesn't look like it's on the FF page or in the forum.

No additional info, just surprised this is one of the few Ducktales themes that doesn't appear to be on the site yet.

Ah, much better. I'm not on here very often so I was checking the guide and got confused. Glad I could help!

Request / [SNES] Donkey Kong Country 2 - "Hot Head Bop"

One of my favourite songs from the game.
I was thinking of some OC Remixes and wanted to try it on the piano but couldn't quite get it right. So I came here and was surprised it wasn't up.

Uh, do you mean Game Title - "Song Title"? Because it looks like the rest of your post and every thread in this forum uses that format, plus it makes more sense.

It was put up like the day after I posted this. This can probably be closed.

Also called the "Dark Mountain Forest Theme" or some variations on that, I quite like this theme and can't find it listed among the game's songs here. It's a great march theme, could be somewhat fun to play, kinda like the Darth Vader theme is one of my favourite things to play when by a piano.

Hopefully someone here can arrange it! Thanks in advance if you take this one on.

Excellent, thank you so much.

Sorry, I know nothing of the tempo or key or the basics of the song. It's just beautiful, though, isn't it?
