Am I missing something special about the Harry Potter game? It's a fine game, but I think we've seen a lot of similar games here?

Nothing wrong with simple games, I'm just genuinely curious why people are voting for it. Really.

Quote from: MaestroUGC on August 29, 2012, 04:15:31 PMSoothsayer – Seer and Psychic (White) can seer a player at night which can see through paintings and receives psychic results each day automatically. He can only share the information with Julius Caesar via PM, any attempt share information with any other player or used any other medium than PMs will result in an immediate death. He does not know who Julius Caesar is.

So, let's say the Soothsayer spots a wolf. He tells Caesar (presumably through you,) but then what, is he just forced to vote for somebody else, or else that constitutes sharing information? And what if Caesar is dead, and he spots a wolf with his magic powers. Is he allowed to vote for that wolf? And if he does vote for a wolf, and is questioned, what is he going to say? "Why do you think so-and-so is suspicious?" "Uhh... not because I'm the soothsayer if that's what you're implying." What if he can't think of an excuse?

It just seems like a sort of unnatural restriction.

Why not just get rid of the soothsayer and give those powers to Caesar? It can still be canon since you can just say that Caesar is being informed of the seerings by an off-stage "player".

TWG: Snakes on a Plane

1. Liquid Snake - Poisons someone each night phase.
2. Solid Snake - Cannot be poisoned.
3. Big Boss Snake - Master wolf. Can determine someone's role each night phase. Incurable, and appears red when poisoned.

4. Human Doctor - Cures someone each night phase.
5. Seer - Cannot be poisoned. However, once poison is used on him, seer results are disorted (red to green, green to red, blue to blue).
6. Cool Guy - Learns how one of the distributed poisons was used each night phase.
7. Human - Cannot be poisoned. Doesn't know that though.
8. Human
9. Human
10. Human
11. Human
12. Raiden who hisses - Doesn't know he's red.

Universal Effects:
  • Color Cardflipping - when a person dies, their color is revealed to the thread.
  • Two poisons and an antidote are randomly distributed each night phase to three players. The players are alerted by a PM telling them what they got. After the doctor is dead, only one poison will be distributed.
  • Seerings come before poisons, poisons activations come before antidotes and antidotes come before a used poison will bring about a person's death.
  • Poisons and antidotes only exist during the phase they were given.
  • Poisons last two full phases before the person keels over. So if they're poisoned at night, they die at the end of the next night phase. They will be sent a PM alerting them as soon as they're poisoned.

Vera and I made a game. I would host it, but I think davy wants to.

I don't know what's going on really!

Quote from: Bespinben on August 24, 2012, 01:00:02 AMI sympathesize with you Deku. It's why we want another updater to help you when stuff like that happens. That, of course, depends on if Jamaha feels that adding another updater is necessary.
It shouldn't even be a question of whether, it should be a question of who and how soon.

Could you please arrange this solo in PDF and MIDI.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qAvtuEtfQU : Water temple
Guess.

Yes, I did the Water Temple at one point, but I no longer have the file on my computer. It's probably not worth doing again anyway.

I don't think anybody really wants to arrange it, either (maybe somebody will step up to the plate, but I'm doubtful!). So I'll give you some advice on how to get sheet music for it. Go download a Water Temple midi file from a website like www.vgmusic.com, then download Finale Notepad. Open the midi file in Notepad, and voila, you'll have some extremely messy sheet music. It should give you the right notes to play anyway, but it will be hideous.

Either that, or play it by ear. Just do the descending "watery" broken chords in the left hand and the weird Arabian tune in the right.

Good luck.

Yeah, I saw. There was a lot of discussion on who a new updater should be, or how new updates should be handled. I agree with those ideas, but the only way they'll get implemented (or even taken seriously) is if we directly address the people in charge of submissions. Hence my previous post here. If I still don't get a response in the next day or three, I'll PM them. Or email them, if possible.

And hi Mashi.

I have a question about submissions.

Why on earth do they take so long? Its been well over two months, and it looks like less than half the songs in this topic have comments, and even fewer have approval.

It's pretty much done.

"But Sauce, what do you mean by 'pretty much'?"

Excellent question. Well, this is a really long song, and I'm not that great at arranging. I got pretty bored near the end so a bunch of parts are pretty sloppy. Additionally, some things didn't transcribe to piano that well. I'll probably rework a bunch of stuff before submitting it, but that won't be for a while (maybe a week). In the meantime, I figured it would be best to upload it.

I'll do it. I've been meaning to arrange this anyway.

Edit: see next post by me!

I sort of threw the roles of this game together (combining two ideas I'd had in the past), but it ended up working out pretty well. I had no idea how much trouble the Wolf Painter would cause though. I think it's definitely more fun than master wolves/millers and what not.

Regarding the actual game... well, the wolves probably should have won. They had tons of bad luck this entire game. Night one, they seered a green and attacked a human who would be guarded, causing an alliance to spring up. Day 1, they lose their shaman pretty much by accident. Night 2 they fail to take out a blue, so by night 3, half the game is confirmed to be human. And day 3 the humans made a stupid, reckless mistake that, in ordinary circumstances, should have cost them the game. But somehow it didn't. vermilionvermin had pretty much everybody fooled (sure, you may have been suspicious of him at a few points, but nobody ever followed up on these suspicions), and wouldn't have been found out if it weren't for process of elimination. That's pretty incredible considering he made like 1/4 of the posts in the game.

The humans on the other hand, were incredibly disorganized and inactive even though they were lucky enough to create an alliance on day 1. We got lucky with the day 1 lynch (well, some logic was involved, but it was still lucky that Dude went down rather than spitllama), and day 3 was probably the biggest disaster I've ever seen in my 50+ games of TWG. TWG is built on discussion, yet the all-knowing alliance decided to eliminate that aspect of the game entirely. Even though there were two players who had been seered red, they were so sure that one of them was a wolf that they decided to falsify evidence to make the lynching go more smoothly. Needless to say, that backfired completely and caused me to lose a lot of respect for the remaining players. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been cheering for the wolves after that.

Really. I don't know what made them so sure I was a wolf anyway. The traitor tried to incriminate me, I'd asked for numerous phase extensions, I'd regularly listed suspicions, I'd started the lynch on Dude, defended a ton of people early in the game (all of whom I could prove I was not a wolf with), and I was frequently requesting that players be more active or would join the chat. But I guess that's wolfish behavior around these parts. At least I won't have to deal with it ever again. Probably.

Good game everyone. verm definitely did the best job this game, but I thought that Locke (near the end) and davy also did really well.

Conceptually, it's a great idea. It would be terrific if it was implemented. But I really don't believe that's going to happen. You're not the first person to make a topic with a good idea for helping NSM. It's just that the people capable of making it happen are busy, and will probably stay busy for quite a while.
