Title: Errors regarding the Main Site (Spelling, 404's, Track Titles, etc...)
Post by: Winter on February 28, 2013, 04:56:58 PM
Thanks everybody for their input on my last thread. Most of the issues have been addressed/fixed. (Thanks everyone!)
The previous thread is not locked, but I'd appreciate any new input to be posted here.

If you need it, here's the old thread. (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=3028.0)

Next up is something that I never finished on the last thread. I hope some of you might help me out here.

This is a list of each game series on the website. If you have a moment to click through each PDF file under the section to verify that you don't get a 404 error or that the sheet doesn't go to the wrong place, then let me know your progress here.

List of Series checked entirely for any 404 errors, and that the correct sheet is shown (Just PDF's):

Animal Crossing
Banjo Kazooie
Castlevania
Donkey Kong
Dragon Quest
Final Fantasy
Fire Emblem
Golden Sun
Harvest Moon
Kirby
Mega Man
Metal Gear Solid
Metroid
Pokemon
Sonic
Super Mario
Super Smash Bros.
Tales
The Legend of Zelda
More...

Again, I welcome comments/opinions/suggestions/help with any of the above topics, so please don't be shy, as you can tell, I'll need all the help I can get!

Didn't see this one above, but "Earthbound" should be changed to "EarthBound". Fixed

And about buoy base, there ARE two different tracks for both above and under water. We have both on the site.

Should Buoy Base be "Buoy Base Galaxy" then?

Well, Nintendo's official OST titles it "Floater Land", and doesn't even provide an mp3 of the underwater version.

Any thoughts?

Decided not an issue

The North American soundtrack calls it "Buoy Base Galaxy", and the Platinum version of it does have an underwater soundtrack.

Guys Winter is so awesome. I was going to make you a JibJab card but the only free thank-you one they had was like... a creepy lemon man jumping around... *shudder*. Anyhow, to business--

I think it would make more sense for "Pokémon Black & White 2 Versions" to be "Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 Versions"

Also it seems inconsistent to have "Pokémon Black & White Versions" and then "Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Versions." Should have either all & or all /. I'm indifferent between the two, however.

At your question about Route 2 and 3 in the second spoiler tag, Route 2 and 3 have the same music in B/W, but they both change depending on the season. So that suggestion is saying "Let's switch the current name of "Route 3" to "Route 2/3 (*season*)." Problem is, I can't identify which season DrP made in that arrangement. I'll send him a PM.

@comingaflame's suggestion, I don't think it's necessary to place the series titles in there. While these tracks are based on tunes from past games, they are commonly remixes and belong in their own section with their simple title-- the title of the song.

@Bubbles' suggestion, I absolutely agree that we should use titles for every place it's played in-game. I've missed a collection of arrangements on this site because I didn't know they also played in a different location.

I will check the Castevania PDFs

Also, you have two "suggested by Winter, me!" sections in the OP :P

What about "Pokémon Black and White Versions" for things with two games, and "Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Versions" for ones with three games?

Tossed the & because it would look weird in the second one.

This post was made by Waddle Bro, me.

Just Diamond and Pearl. No third versions whatsoever. You don't list the Mario bros theme as being from New Super Mario Bros. just because it appears in the game.

Busy work music. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y669K3Qdjsg)

Suggested by Yugi

Final Fantasy Track Titles should be corrected:

Final Fantasy IV:
The Final Battle --> Zeromus

Final Fantasy IV:
The Last Battle --> The Final Battle or Neo Exdeath

I'm not well versed in Official track titles from Final Fantasy. Discuss please.

For the FFIV error. The official name was the Final Battle, however, when it was rereleased under the Black Mages (led by Nobou Uematsu, the person who composed the song), it was titled Zeromus, the name of the boss.

For the FFV Error. The Official name is called the Final battle, when the Black Mages rereleased it, it was titled Neo Exdeath.

Winter: If nobody says otherwise, I'll make those changes in the near future

New Problems:

Join Avenue is Error 404. Winter: No it's not?

If we're operating by the English Soundtrack, Tina in FFVI should be called Terra (I am working on a replacement however, I'll post it here when I've made it).
Winter: I went ahead and changed it for now.

What do we do with arrangements that are specific to the third version? It would be inaccurate to put it under a title of only the original 2 games.

Why don't we make a section for just the third games and only put songs that were exclusively in that game there? Like a pkmn platinum version section that only contained songs that played only in that game.

At the moment we've got something like this, which I think works fine

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald -> Battle Tower (Emerald)
Title: Re: Errors regarding the Main Site (Spelling, 404's, Track Titles, etc...)
Post by: JDMEK5 on March 01, 2013, 01:48:40 AM
I feel important!

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald -> Battle Tower (Emerald)
To be really professional (which I only figured I'd bring up while we're changing everything anyways), how about this:

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Version
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver Version
Etc.

Putting the 'version' on the end just makes it unexplainably more appealing to me and 'version' shouldn't be plural because you insert the one you're looking for.
(e.g. Pokemon HeartGold Version as seen in 'Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver Version')
The slash means "or". So only one can be referred to at once.
Discuss.

Just Diamond and Pearl. No third versions whatsoever. You don't list the Mario bros theme as being from New Super Mario Bros. just because it appears in the game.
Unless there's a song which only appears in the third game. Otherwise, good point.

EDIT: Just realized I've been ninja'd. \/
Why don't we make a section for just the third games and only put songs that were exclusively in that game there? Like a pkmn platinum version section that only contained songs that played only in that game.

FURTHER EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POSTING:
Suggested by JDMEK5

Correct track title from Super Smash Bros. section:

Spoiler
Classic Clear Fox --> Classic Clear! (Fox)
[close]

Correct track titles from Super Smash Bros. Melee section:

Spoiler
Classic Clear Kirby --> Classic Clear! (Kirby)
Classic Clear Link --> Classic Clear! (Link)
Classic Clear Mario --> Classic Clear! (Mario)
Classic Clear Marth --> Classic Clear! (Marth)
Classic Clear Ness --> Classic Clear! (Ness)
Classic Clear Pokemon --> Classic Clear! (Pokemon)
Donkey Kong Victory --> Victory! (Donkey Kong)
Fox Victory --> Victory! (Fox)
Ness Victory --> Victory! (Ness)
Samus Victory --> Victory! (Samus)
Yoshi Victory --> Victory! (Yoshi)
[close]

Would love clarification if this would be correct to the Official Soundtrack titles. Also, tell me whether or not you think we should use Parenthesis for these?
As far as official soundtrack, maybe the sound test names used in-game would be good enough. They're as official as any soundtrack Nintendo could release, and I don't think there are actually soundtracks for SSB games.

EDIT WITHIN AN EDIT:
Checked for soundtrack which I found doesn't exist. There's the "Smashing! Live" CD for Melee, but I think the sound test names would be more reliable.

EDIT #3:
The site news has been updated! Yay!

EDIT #4:
Suggested by comingaflame

There was a discussion from the last thread about how Super Smash Bros. (and Melee/Brawl) track titles should be formatted. If we can come to some sort of agreement about what they should be, I'll be happy to adjust them.

Proposed changes:
Spoiler
Hyrule Castle -> The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Castle
Saffron City -> Pokémon: Saffron City
Bramble Blast -> Donkey Kong Country: Bramble Blast
Dialga/Palkia Battle at Spear Pillar! -> Pokémon: Dialga/Palkia Battle at Spear Pillar!
Fire Emblem Theme -> Fire Emblem: Fire Emblem Theme (I know, redundant, but offiiicial soundtracks are laa-w)
Ground Theme (Super Mario Bros.) -> Super Mario Bros.: Ground Theme
King Dedede's Theme -> Kirby: King Dedede's Theme
Main Theme -> Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Main Theme
Ocarina Medley -> The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medley
Subspace Emissary - Overworld -> Subspace Emissary: Overworld
The Legend of Zelda Dark World -> The Legend of Zelda: Dark World
The Roost (Two Pianos) -> Animal Crossing: The Roost (Two Pianos)
Big Blue -> F-Zero: Big Blue
Brinstar -> Metroid: Brinstar
Corneria -> Star Fox: Corneria
Dreamland -> Kirby: Dreamland
Fever -> Dr. Mario: Fever
Fire Emblem Theme -> Fire Emblem: Fire Emblem Theme (Again, but they're different, I checked)
Flatzone -> Game & Watch: Flatzone
Fountain of Dreams -> Kirby: Fountain of Dreams
Hyrule Temple -> The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Temple
Onett -> Mother: Onett
Opening -> Super Smash Bros. Melee: Opening
Together, We Ride! (Two Pianos) -> Fire Emblem: Together, We Ride! (Two Pianos)
[close]

I would love it if someone would take a comb through those old and new titles for me and separate them by game. Make the old title exactly as it is on the site right now, and the new one how it should be changed, obviously. It makes it easier cause I can refer to this and copy/paste when I go to fix them.
I think we should leave them to sound test names. Whether it includes the game name or not, we go with the game.

EDIT #5:
Suggested by Bubbles7689

Pokemon songs frequently appear in more than one location in a game, but the main site only includes the first place you encounter it.

Correct by including them in track titles on site.

Bespinben mentioned that this is not reflected in the official soundtrack (HearlGold/SoulSilver) but I think this should be implemented anyway. Your thoughts?

Spoiler
Violet City --> Violet City/Olivine City
Azeala Town --> Azeala Town/Blackthorn City
Cherrygrove City --> Cherrygrove City/Mahogany Town
Ecruteak City --> Ecruteak City/Cianwood City
Saffron City --> ?
Viridian City --> ?
Pewter City --> ?
Cerulean City --> ?
Cinnabar Island --> ?
[close]

Point #1 - [I'm not doing the research right now, so if someone would enlighten me as to the other town the track would appear in, that would be great!]

Point #2 - [Bespinben mentioned that this is not reflected in the official soundtrack (HearlGold/SoulSilver) but I think this should be implemented anyway. Your thoughts?]

Point #3 - [What do you guys think about doing this for the Routes too? If I was in a certain route in a game and came here to look it up, I might pass over it because I did not know it was in another route. Discuss.]
This is a good idea. (Just like every other on this thread)
I actually remember thinking about this but didn't get the chance to mention it before I forgot.

Point #1 - I'll get back to that. Probably by editing this out with whatever gets put in.

Point #2 - It should be implemented anyways, but stress firmly that this is the only so-far legit exception to the rule of "use-the-official-soundtrack-names".

Point #3 - Yes, this should be done for routes as well. Multiple routes would look like this:
Route 22/23/24/25 (Just as an example)

EDIT: That last issue reminded me of something else I was gonna put here but forgot.
This problem of same song, different places occurs in more games than just Pokemon.
A good example is Kirby.
Did you know that tons of songs from early Kirby games such as Kirby's Dream Land (1, 2, and 3) and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (for example; there are others) make reappearances later Kirby games such as Kirby Air Ride and Kirby's Epic Yarn in remade sound fonts? (Example below)
Well I'm thinking that even though it's the same song, it should be relisted as the new title under the new game. Arranged by the same person.
An example of what I'm talking about is this song:
Kirby's Dream Land - Mint Breath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74TqfTxkP30&list=SPC654C8FD7FC89851&index=10)
Kirby Air Ride - Shooting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngHw7R3NYGw)
Kirby's Epic Yarn - Tankbot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAoby7QUC6k)

Hear a resemblance? That's right. It's the same song. Three times.
In my arrangement thread I have them all listed under different games, and the sheets themselves have differing game titles on them. (Have a look for yourself) (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=3069.0)
This doesn't only happen for this song. The sound test in Kirby Air Ride features tons of songs featured in previous games that have been remade out of the 8-bit era.
This also happens with the Mario franchise. But really stood out with many tracks in the New Super Mario Bros. line. (I think you know what I mean)
The reason I think this should happen is because perhaps someone knows a song from one game, but it's already been arranged because it was featured in a previous game.
This happened to me first hand when I was trying to find this song: Kirby Air Ride - Revenge of Meta-Knight 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iCUfb4kllA)
Turns out it had already been arranged as this song: Kirby Super Star - Taking Over The Halberd (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlQVnawTaSk)
Not only that, the version on site was under the name: Halfmoon. (I haven't the slightest idea where that name came from)
That was extremely annoying and the whole thing could've been avoided had this been in place then.
Discuss.

I'm not sure if I can call this an error, but the topic starfox assault, instead of Corneria (Duet)
It's Corneria (Two pianos).
Because all of the other ones are called (Duet), I think this is an error.

It's probably what the arranger called it when it went through submissions. The updaters tend to use the name the arranger called it when it went through submissions, thus the name the arranger called it is the name on site.

Take my on-site arrangement of "The Loser", I added (Game Over) to it to notify people of where it was on the soundtrack, and it ended up being part of the on screen name.

Eh, I think the most proper translation would be "In a Pinch in Battle!"

The Japanese title is "戦闘でピンチ!" and 'ピンチ' is literally "Pinch" phonetically. Also, in-game, Abilities like Blaze and Overgrow use the term "in a Pinch" to describe low-health.

Yeah--in English it's usually translated as "Crisis" though, because the literal "pinch" isn't as common in English unless you live in the UK.

I understand that it's more conventional to say "crisis," but the main point I was trying to get across was that "in a pinch" is the official term in the games' translations, such as for the descriptions of Overgrow/Blaze/Torrent Abilities, or for certain Berries that activate at low health, such as the Salac Berry.

Just something minor I noticed: The MID file for "Boss Battle" from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a file of the song "Ballad of the Windfish" instead of boss battle. I found the same problem with "Let's-a-go" from Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, as it has the MID file of "Friendship" from the same game. Also, none of the files for "Sliver Submarine" from Kirby: Canvas Curse work. The same goes for "Title Screen" from Ice Climber. It's nothing too important, but I was just wondering if that could be fixed. Thanks!

I wish we could get the game names for the "orthodox" (quote on quote) Pokémon games to look the same.
Every time I see them all different and wacko it bugs me.
And I don't mean adding the fancy "é" to all of them.

Maybe have: Pokemon Black 2/White 2 Version, Pokemon Black/White Version, Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow Version, etc.

Sorry if this seems small but it's been getting on my nerves for a while now and I don't see how it could be particularly difficult to fix.

Even better, take out "version"; makes it clunky.

Pokemon Red and Blue
Pokemon Yellow
Pokemon Gold and Silver
Pokemon Crystal
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
Pokemon Platinum
Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver
Pokemon Black and White
Pokemon Black 2 and White 2

And PLEASE have them separated from third versions. The only pieces that should be under Emerald, Crystal, Yellow, Platinum, etc., are those that FIRST appeared in those games.

I hate that they're put together, as an example, "Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum" when the majority of the pieces are from Diamond and Pearl. Platinum is NOT the same game.

I hate that they're put together, as an example, "Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum" when the majority of the pieces are from Diamond and Pearl. Platinum is NOT the same game.
Good point.

Even better, take out "version"; makes it clunky.
I personally would like to see the "version" in. I think it looks much more professional. Much more.

I admit that all of this is rather nitpicky of us, but I do agree we need at least some sort of uniformity. Even if it looks terrible, at least have it look the same haha.

The OSTs don't have "version" in their name
Title: Re: Errors regarding the Main Site (Spelling, 404's, Track Titles, etc...)
Post by: MaestroUGC on July 05, 2013, 07:52:07 PM
If we're going for uniformity, then the OST should be what we go by for all of the music on the site.

If a track goes under different titles (SM Galaxy, for example) then the main title will be what's on the OST (Hell's Prominence) with the alternate title in parenthesis ("Melty Molten Galaxy") like so:

Franchise: Super Mario
Game: Super Mario Galaxy
Title: Hell's Prominence (Melty Molten Galaxy)

As for the Pokemon series, "version" should be omitted because it is already implied by the very nature of the games. The soundtracks are mostly identical as it is, and the only indication should be the color versions, ordered chronologically.

In fact, all of the games should be entered chronologically in their respective series, but that's a different topic altogether.

Here's an idea: what does the OST say? :P

The thing is, "Version" was added only for the English titles (and is a part of the official titles), whereas the OSTs are only in Japanese. Using the OST as a reference isn't fair in that case, because that would mean we should change all the Mega Man games' titles into "Rockman," because that's how it is in the OST. When it comes to game titles, it's better to just use the official English-localized titles.

When it comes to "professionalism..." Um... Officially, when both games are referred to, they use "and" instead of slashes, but they also write out the full titles of both games. So when talking about both Black 2 and White 2, the official way of writing it is "Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2," which does look clunky. >_>

Then level a song plays on ≠ the name of a song. Example: Look at the Cave Story OST.

Ah. That reminds me, the name scheme for Pokemon Red/Blue's OST is different from the other games (that goes for FireRed/LeafGreen too), particularly for routes. For example, "Route 1" isn't called that in the OST, but is instead titled "The Route to Viridian City -- From Pallet Town."

Regardless if the system we use is the official one from the actual games and OSTs or not, they should still be consistent. If it really gets to be that big of a problem we could have a key or something on the page with the alternate names

As you might have noticed, I moved the forum from ninsheetm.us/smf to forum.ninsheetm.us. This causes your browsers to consider it an another site, hence it's not remembering the passwords anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, care to elaborate on the password-restricting? I can't get that to happen.

But if you compare it to all of the other arrangements, Cave of Being still has much larger labels.

Dragon Warrior was the American name for the earlier games, but the recent games in the series have adopted Dragon Quest anyway. Basically, yes, the two games "Dragon Quest" and "Dragon Warrior" should be combined on the main site under the appropriate name. (Dragon Warrior is American, Dragon Quest is Japanese)

This is a really minor thing, but the game "Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney" should be changed to its official name outside of Japan, "Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" if someone has the time. (I arranged that piece before the game was announced for America so I didn't have the right title LOL.) In addition, the track title is "Labyrinthia" rather than Labyrinth City but the sheet will still say Labyrinth City and I don't think it's going to confuse anyone so that one's not really a big deal.

Two more complaints about nitpicky game titles:

The Ace Attorney games on the site are currently suffering from colon cancer. That is, there are too many colons in the names of the games. Capcom registers the game's titles with a dash rather than a second colon as follows:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies

If someone could fix these, that would give me some peace of mind, though of course it's not nearly important enough to be considered pressing (ha).

Yeah because presently the site is organizing them Alphabetically, and even using that method you're not supposed to organize via "The [Title]" or "A [Title]", just by "[Title]". Any time the title of anything starts with an article you skip it and go to the next word as its first word to organize by.

The ace attorney series suffers from awful soundtrack confusion among the fans due to fans' tendencies to use unofficial names of tracks rather than the actual names. For instance, that track should be "Cross-Examination ~ Moderato 2001" as my arrangement is titled in my thread rather than just "Testimony" or "Cross Examine" or whatever. I think it's sort of beyond help at this point.

I think I posted that a while ago and nothing happened.

Problem I found as I was gawking the site for needed replacements.
"Normal Battle" from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (arranged by Gzgregory) is a 2 Piano sheet. it is not listed as a 2 Piano Sheet but a solo.

All three links for Route 225 (Night) (Duet) under Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum lead to Route 205 (Night) (Duet).  Route 225 (Night) (Duet) exists on Fingerz` arrangements page but the links on the main site are wrong.

Tingle's House (Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland) is accessible by WarioMan's arrangements, but not on the zelda page

Not sure what the isses was but I fixed it

And a reminder, Mike Tyson's Punchout still gives corrupted files.

Deleted the entry on the site for now because all 3 files are corrupted

Problem I found as I was gawking the site for needed replacements.
"Normal Battle" from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (arranged by Gzgregory) is a 2 Piano sheet. it is not listed as a 2 Piano Sheet but a solo.

Fixed, I remember a discussion about "Two Pianos" vs. "Duet" but I don't remember so I labeled it as Two Pianos

"Cross Examination" is a duplicate of "Testimony Moderato" (Phoenix Wright), not to mention its terrible formatting and inaccuracies.

Correct, and I deleted "Cross Examination" by Korados

If you're interested in compiling a list of how the titles should be formatted, I can merge them sometime and even edit the names in the sheets themselves.

All three links for Route 225 (Night) (Duet) under Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum lead to Route 205 (Night) (Duet).  Route 225 (Night) (Duet) exists on Fingerz` arrangements page but the links on the main site are wrong.

Fixed!

Deleted - all files are corrupted

I looked around the forums to try and find the original copy for this sheet with no luck, in fact I can't figure out who the arranger V.E. Norman is at all! So this is basically the same story as the Mike Tyson Fight Theme... One sheet in the category and now it's gone. We now have no Ice Climber/Punch-out sheets at all! (not that they worked before)

Sad day.

Oh good! ^.^

Also --

I noticed that whenever i clicked on the Halo:Combat Evolved main theme to listen to the MIDI file or see the PDF, it didn't work. Just saying.

Had to delete because the mus is corrupted too, but I contacted the arranger so we may have a replacement

The second page of Rock Maridia says Mezzo Maridia

Fixed that on the MUS and PDF file. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'd love to make formatting changes to sheets in bulk, but these one-at-a-time fixes are more feasible..

Take Goldeneye 007 for example, all the sheets are in comic sans... would like an easy fix, but the only thing I can think of is Shadoninja's batch file method and I don't know how to properly work it.

I went back through the entire thread and modified all the posts of issues that were fixed or that I fixed tonight so that when reading through the thread, you and other mods don't wonder if they've been taken care of

For four Pokemon listings in Gold/Silver/Crystal which play in two locations in the game, I edited the listings/MUS's/PDF's to have both city's in the name (You're welcome Bubbles!)

Spoiler
Violet City --> Violet City/Olivine City
Azeala Town --> Azeala Town/Blackthorn City
Cherrygrove City --> Cherrygrove City/Mahogany Town
Ecruteak City --> Ecruteak City/Cianwood Cityiolet City --> Violet City/Olivine City
Azeala Town --> Azeala Town/Blackthorn City
Cherrygrove City --> Cherrygrove City/Mahogany Town
Ecruteak City --> Ecruteak City/Cianwood City
[close]

I also found three more corrupted arrangements which were noted back on page 1 as dead PDF links

Here's the full list of sheets I deleted today:

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse - "Evergreen" - Jimbabwe
Fire Emblem - "The Kingdom of Bern" - Commander6/Composer #40
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!! - "Fight Theme"
Main Theme - "Halo: Combat Evolved" - Thomas Wilson
-Contacting arranger
Ice Climber - "Title Screen"
-Deku may reupload

Here's a link to a .7z file with the 5 mus's in it if you want to try and do some recovery. :P

Fox Victory --> Classic Clear! (Fox)

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the theme "World Map" in Super Mario World should be called either "Donut Plains" or "Chocolate Island". World map seems too general, since the world map has several different theme. I believe that Donut Plains is the more popular, and Chocolate Island is the less popular nick name. It's called World Map in both the site and in the sheet.

I don't have that power, so until Deku returns, you'll have to wait. Also, from what I understand, there's no easy removal button for sheets due to some way things work under the hood of the site, so that's why this ability is only held by Jamaha and Deku (computer savvy folk).

Just noticed this, but there should not be a colon in "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles". It's a minor typo, but it sends the game name to the very bottom of the "Final Fantasy" page. Its sequel "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King" is spelled correctly.

Did anyone change the name of my Final Fantasy IV arrangement "The Red Wings"?? I'm pretty sure it should be "The Red Wings" instead of "Red Wings" http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Original_Soundtracks_of_Final_Fantasy_IV. The "(Cecil's Theme)" might be unnecessary since it's not in the name of the original soundtrack, but it looks to like it should be "The Red Wings" at least.

Hey my wish was granted. But the files, pdf and mus, still got the wrong title. Here (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24842881/The%20Red%20Wings.zip) are two files with the correct name(I only changed the name).

What's also interesting is that the one who changed the name also changed the beaming into a 4/4 beaming with groups of 3. Which is from what I know wrong beaming in 2/2, the best beaming might also be to make some triplets into sixtuplets.

I thought I told you already that I was going to change that, so yeah. Regarding the name:

http://vgmdb.net/album/1854
http://vgmdb.net/album/5681
http://vgmdb.net/album/38931

3 against 1 I guess d:

As for the tuplets... Yes I did separate them, and as you say, either they could be written as a sextuplet (which wouldn't really fit in this case) or as two triplets, however those triplets shouldn't be tied, even if it's 2/2. Here's an example:

(http://claviercompanion.com/GMajorArticle/mm1-8.gif)

Yay, new update! Unfortunately, I believe there was an error regarding Shin Onigashima, one of the new games. I check the "Other" section, and happened to have it arranged by release date. It shows Shin Onigashima as the earliest game (before even Ms. Pac-Man). It was released September 4, 1987, so should be placed just either between Rad Racer and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, or maybe just after that. (As far as I know, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! doesn't have a specific release day, just the month of September that year.

Hey, so I was looking at the pdf & midi files for my arrangement of Squid Sisters, and I noticed that something was wrong with the midi file. Every time there were two of the same notes right next to each other, the second one wouldn't play. The note became silent. I don't know if this is a problem with just my arrangement or all the sheets in this latest update, but I think it's worth looking into. Thanks!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All --> Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations --> Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations

PW: AA:
- Cross Examination is a duplicate sheet with Testimony Moderato. They're arrangements of the same theme.
- Investigation ~ Cornered --> Pursuit ~ Cornered
- Testimony Moderato/Allegro --> Cross-Examination ~ Moderato/Allegro 2001
- Logic --> Logic and Tricks
- Objection --> Objection! 2001
- The Steel Samurai --> Steel Samurai
- Trial Begins --> Trial
- Turnabout Sisters --> Maya Fey ~ Turnabout Sisters' Theme 2001

PW: JFA:

- Objection! --> Objection! 2002

PW: T&T:

- Furio Tigre: Swingin' Tiger --> Furio Tigre ~ Swingin' Tiger
- Fragrance of Dark Coffee --> Godot ~ The Fragrance of Dark Coffee (for some reason BrawlBRSTMs3 has Dark-Colored Coffee instead, but just Dark Coffee seems to be the official since everyone else uses it)

AJ: AA:

I don't know what exactly is going with this one sheet here. I think it's supposed to be an arrangement of Cross-Examination ~ 2007 Allegro, but the entire thing seems to be transposed to the wrong key.

Anyone? I know this is quite a lot, but as a hardcore AA fan, this is bothering me a bit. :P

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6akIKaXBeU3hPzULIPfnFptaAsnEdNMN

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6akIKaXBeU3bM1hODeXfbAv7_1pl0RiQ

These are generally consistent with titles that everyone else uses, although for some reason the Cross-Examination themes are always different for every game in BrawlBRSTMs3's playlists. It sticks consistent to "Cross-Examination" everywhere else AFAIK. Also, as I said, Godot's theme is famously known as "Godot ~ The Fragrance of Dark Coffee," so the reason why BrawlBRSTMs3 has it different confuses me.

A Wikipedia article is also here, and for the most part it seems to be official and consistent with the rules up to now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discography_of_the_Ace_Attorney_series

The hyphen in Cross-Examination isn't present, though.

Objection!, Cross-Examination ~ Moderato/Allegro/Presto, and Confess/Telling/Announce the Truth themes always have the year at the end. A lot of themes also follow the format [setting/character name/"Reminiscence"/whatever] ~ [descriptive name].

I apologize for not saying this earlier (or did I?) but there's not much use in fixing the URL in sheets that will end up being replaced anyway. Can you point me to which of these sheets, if any, are up to our current standards? Alternatively, if you've done some major formatting fixes (so they don't look like trash anymore) those should go up as well I guess.

I think what Latios was saying was that the quality of some of the arrangements themselves are not up to par with NSM standards. Your formatting and URL fixes are nice, but it would be kind of pointless to update those things if the arrangement itself isn't accurate and needs a replacement. I can't check the sheets atm, but basically I think that this:

Can you point me to which of these sheets, if any, are up to our current standards? Alternatively, if you've done some major formatting fixes (so they don't look like trash anymore) those should go up as well I guess.

means to find any of the sheets you have fixed up that meet NSM standards both aesthetically and notationally.

Post by: Tobbeh99 on November 17, 2015, 02:51:58 PM
You're definitely right in that. The are only 2 things it helps. The first being to fix a already completely notated sheet by fixing aesthetics. The second being that it improves badly notated sheets with aesthetics. It sure does help a bit I guess, but the sheet might still be bad so it's not that much valuable point, especially more popular sheets that might get replaced more sooner.

I'll leave it for the updaters if they feel like it. I'll have my thread remaining with the files if any updater wants to uploaded them. But if not then I'm fine with it, not too much of a problem. :)

Under the New Rally-X game (Under the "More..." category), in the "Music from New Rally-X" arrangement there are some unnecessary accidentals. It occurs in m. 9 where the repeated D#'s are.

Which arrangements are from which game?

All we have on the site under the title "Tetris" are from the GBC game. The "Game over" sheet is called "High Score" in the playlist (doesn't really matter much that the name might be incorrect, because the sheet is so bad and needs a replacement)

If you look at the sheets and listen you'll see that it's from the GBC version. And that the NES soundtrack is different.

Also speaking of Tetris sheets. The section Tetris: The Soviet Mind Game:

Game name: Really not sure about it, but this is how the Tetris wiki spells is "Tetяis: The Soviet Mind Game" (http://tetris.wikia.com/wiki/Tetris_(NES,_Tengen))

Troïka arrangement: I think that it should be called "Troika" with an i rather than an ï. That seems to be the most common spelling of the word.

You're right. We'll change the release date and system info. Since we don't have any of the NES music, though, and the game's name is simply "Tetris" we'll keep the section as is.
-As a side note, I'll probably replace one or more of them since you drew my attention to how bad they are xD

I think it's necessary clarifying the game because they have a completely different soundtrack so they are basically different games. And it makes it more clear that the ones on site are from Tetris (GBC).
Also sooner or later somebody might arrange a song from Tetris (NES), so we might just do it now.

As for Tetris: the Soviet Mind Game. it's a minor thing honestly, only if we want it to be completely correct.

Did some digging and found "The Castle" on the forums (ugh, mediafire.....). No idea how accurate/inaccurate it is, but gave it an aesthetic touch-up and put it up on site. Better than a broken file I suppose. :P
The link in his arrangement thread for the other one is broken though. I don't suppose anyone has a copy of that saved anywhere, so I guess I'll delete it if no one says anything.

Spent a bit of time; the Super Mario World section should look much better now. Titles are mostly in place; let me know if you're unhappy with any of them.

Though, at least a couple of sheets will need some fixing/replacing (particularly "MAP 7 (Special)"). I just fixed the URL and aesthetics on most of them, but if anyone's feeling up to doing some fixes/replacements... :)

Under Fire Emblem: Awakening:

Id~Serenity --> Id (Serenity)

The other two should be in quotation marks.

The files themselves should also have their titles updated, with the ones in quotes using a pair of single quotes within the standard double quotes for all titles. For example, in the file, it says: "You may call me Marth.", which should be updated to: "'You may call me Marth.'"

I checked these titles with the sound test given in the game itself.

Fixed. To clarify, our submission system does not actually automatically include release dates for new games added to the database. They default to 0000-00-00 until someone changes it manually. We'll fix that in the next version of the NSM Panel.

I found an error: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening sheet "Link Awakens" has different arrangers on the sheet itself and on the main site. I'm guessing that Bespinben is the arranger by looking at the sheet, would be great if this were to be corrected.

there are a lot of sheets like that in the Zelda section, especially wind waker I think
either MusicalToxin or NaSiDe used different names on their sheets I think

I noticed that the sheet "Investigation ~ Cornered (Duet)" from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is actually "Pursuit ~ Cornered" but a duet version. We should probably change the title to "Pursuit ~ Cornered (Duet)".

the Sonic Unleashed song on the site is incorrectly named. It should be "Windmill Isle (Day) (Duet)"
It is the Apotos day mission, but the in game soundtrack screen lists it as "Windmill Isle (Day)'

How would someone fix that?

I wonder, the song "Overworld" from the game "Zelda's Adventure", what is that song? It isn't from the CD-i game, and it doesn't sound much like a Zelda song.

I don't have a definite answer regarding this, but some others seem to believe that it's from the CD-I game. Either way, it's an awesome song. It's got some nice Chrono Trigger vibes!

Hmm y I even found a version that seems to be the original version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfAx-8ivBZU

But the thing is, I watched through a let's play of the game, and it doesn't appear anywhere in the game, and certainly not on the overworld, the only thing you hear there are eviromental noises in fact.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE2D41AE0B21710A9

Searching a bit more, it seems like people are just as confused as I am saying stuff like "This isn't from the game, it only has environmental noises, I wonder where it's from?". So y I'm 90% sure it isn't from Zelda's Adventure, even the instrumentation and genre of the song seems out of the game, the game having more orchestral instrumentation, strings and more in-the-background music. Some guy said it sounded like a Metal Slug theme, which I can agree with that it sounds a bit like, but I have no idea if it is one, and if so which.

In the new update Seb submitted "Ocarina Melodies" from Zelda OOT, and it includes "Song of Time", which has it's own arrangement by Deku. We should probably remove Deku's arrangement since Seb's arrangement includes "Song of Time" in it.

The PDF link to "Break Down" from Cave Story (under other) takes you to the sheet music for "Balcony" from Cave Story, but the MIDI download downloads the correct song.

This always happens with new game entries because there is no current way to include that information in the submission system. The information must be added in separately.

Not really an "error", but something to note. Iirc the criteria for a game series to get its own section is 3 games with at least 16 sheets, right? Well, between the 4 Hamtaro games, there at 16 sheets.

(Don't care how irrelevant Hamtaro is. Rules are rules, sheets are sheets. :p)

Set Sail For Adventure is the Title Theme, which is based off The Great Sea from The Wind Waker.

They are fan translations, so no, they're most certainly not "official." We didn't get an official English version until Xenoblade Chronicles 3D came out.

Doesn't the Tetris music run into major copyright issues?
For Game Boy:

For the NES, according to http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php/Tetris_(NES)#Music, the only songs that aren't in the public domain are composed by Hirokazu Tanaka, so those would only run into the regular number of copyright issues.

Now, Mother 3's music runs into major copyright issues. Sampling pop music, nigh-quoting classical music composers whose works aren't in the public domain...

In the recent uploads, there is a track called "It's Showtime" for Super Paper Mario on the Wii. However, the MIDI is for "Showtime!" in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. The sheet for the recent upload is the actual song from Super Paper Mario, and the sheet and file for "It's Showtime" (needs to be switched to 'Showtime!' for the official OST name) are already hosted under its respective game and console.

Someone seems to have uploaded the wrong MIDI to "It's Showtime" for Super Paper Mario, perhaps?

In light of a new submission by BonesEXE ([NDS] Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - Deep Castle (Two Pianos)), I've noticed that we have a sheet for "Fawful Castle" under the same game/series. On the OST and like the Two Piano submission, it should most likely be changed to read "Deep Castle" as well, should it not?
