I hate Nintendo so much with Earthbound because it looks like they are blind and deaf! They can't see the enormous demand there is for just those three games! And fans are not asking for remakes or anything, just a simple re-release of, at least, Earthbound (Mother 2).
If they had the guts to release the Super Mario All-Stars Wii version, which in the end is just the original SNES Super Mario All-Stars with nothing else in-game and at a full Wii game price, why don't they re-release Earthbound world-wide?!
If there are legal issues with the games, then try to fix them somehow! :(

The only game that I use an emulator for is Mother 3, but I own the actual game. I just want to play it in English.
And I know what you're talking about. It took me a long time to figure out how to get the game loaded and patched the way I wanted, and longer still to learn how to program and use the emulator. But now, it works fine and I can play it whenever I want.

I'm stuck at the part with the Mecha Drago.

Use Flint's stat-boosting moves like Stiffen Up and Toughen Up (I think that's what they're called) towards the beginning of the fight. Make sure you have plenty of healing items. If you need more, fight the surrounding enemies until they drop them. Make sure you're at high HP when the Mecha-Drago dies, or else he'll kill you with his finishing attack, and you'll have to do it again! Don't get discouraged; this is a hard boss fight for most people, myself included, especially the first few times around. You can do it!

A little ways. You have to go see your family at Hinawa's grave, and then you have to go all the way through Sunshine Forest up to Alec's House, get Alec to join your party, and then go all the way up Mt. Oriander to see the Mecha-Drago. And then the Mecha-Drago is freaking hard.

It might benefit you as a Pokemon fan to play them. Some of the origins of certain species can be found in Mother games. Like how Mewtwo and Giegue from Mother 1 are eerily similar. Or how there's an item in Mother 2 called the "Bag of Dragonite".

Giygas in MOTHER looks like Mewtwo, but that doesn't say anything. Giygas is an anthropomorphic pink thing like Mewtwo, just that.
Also, "Run my Dog, Run!" from MOTHER 3 is supposedly similar to "Route 10" from Pokemon Black and White. I think there are more musical similarities, but I think all of them are just mere coincidences.
But I agree with blueflower when he says they're all theories. I really find hardly difficult that those coincidences are not casual. :P

Lets see if I can remember correctly:
I think some of the music within Earthbound was deemed to similar to popular tunes so, due to them being all pussy about copyright and being sued, Nintendo of North America decided not to do some Earthbound things or something.
That is what we all thought, anyway. However, now that EarthBound is coming to Virtual Console, we'll just have to see if/how they change it.

lol the snakes. "The Sharks' boss" (not to spoil anything, even if you probably already know) is kinda tough, you should have some hamburgers and buy the best equipment at the store first. Also, "the first boss" is kinda tough too, I beat it at level 12, almost 13. :P
I recommend you to learn PSI Rockin before battling it, it's really helpful.
I'm in Happy-Happy Village right now btw.
If you get PSI Rockin' Alpha before fighting the Shark's Boss, that would be optimal. It makes the fight kind of too easy though. :P

Don, DO NOT store the Pencil Eraser. You're going to need it at least two more times in the game, plus there are a few funny things you can do with it later on.
I recommend you calling them and taking it back ASAP before you get to the end of an area and realize that you need to go back and find a phone.

I bought Earthbound from the WiiU eShop because I have heard so much good things about this game. I'm in the second dungeon right now and I love the game so far. The battling system is pretty new to me since I'm used to have some kind of animations for attacks in RPG games but I like it. I love the Twoson music. It was stuck in my head for about 8 hours after hearing it for the first time. Haven't got the time to play this for a while but I'm sure I will finish this awesome game someday. :)

Also, be SURE that you paralyze the 2nd Sanctuary boss.

Were you in Peaceful Rest Valley? Because that was always one of the more annoying difficulty spikes, for me.

YES. Like Jesus it took me about five times just to get to Happy Happy Village and then the boss there is weaker than the trees xD
Haha yeah, the difficulty is spread a little bit unevenly, but oh well. It doesn't end up requiring too much standalone grinding, which is good.
Blueflower told me that the valley is the hardest part of the game, so that's comforting xD I mean, I love this game but it's quite frustrating, especially when I've done so much grinding and still can't get past a place easily.
I'd say that's pretty accurate; it was always the most obnoxious for me. There are a few other points in the game that seemed particularly difficult (which I won't name for the sake of spoilers), but they're a lot more manageable.
As far as grinding goes, the dungeons themselves definitely have a lot of it already, but if you want easy exp, once you beat a dungeon and everything is running away from you, you can just run up behind them and kill them instantly for the most part, and just keep doing that for a couple minutes. It's really effective for the second dungeon, in particular.

Mother 1 is coming to the Wii U eShop under the new title "EarthBound Beginnings." Fans have been calling it EarthBound Zero for years but I guess this is its official title now!

It's very similar to Pokemon so if you like Pokemon there's a good chance you'll like the EarthBound series.

Well, the combat is kinda similar. Overall the gameplay is less complex, but it's the world around you and the character interactions that are the most appealing to me.

I've read Earthbound is just a better title and works fine standalone, but only in vague research.
As far as NES RPGs go EarthBound Beginnings is certainly up there, but it hasn't aged well compared to the later two games and you don't need it to play EarthBound because the story is only vaguely connected.

There's no way they'd announce it so soon after releasing EarthBound Beginnings, as that would actually deter people from buying the first entry to wait for the third instead. Give it some time.
Give it a few months, at least.
Mother 3 will likely be announced next year, if the way we got the first two were any indication.

Woah no wonder EarthBound is considered a copyright minefield... The most blatant example is Mr. Batty Twist from M3 though.
And the battle theme for the Natural Killer Cyborg contains samples of the guitar solo from Beat It.
So for the past couple weeks I've been at my least favorite part of RPG's in my Mother playthrough: level grinding. (tbh, I only have time to play at night before bed, so often I go days without actually progressing simply because I'm tired af.)
