I'm building a fairly large floating island. Once it's done I'll put a lake and waterfalls on it, and a mountain with a castle coming out of it. Likely will add more floating islands, make a Zeal-esque thing. (Chrono Trigger Age of Antiquity)
Awesome. I'm working on a multiple story giant tree house, with underground library. The tunnelling is a hassle though, 'cause it's hard to tell when all your tunnels are going to get flooded out. :P
An underground library. That sounds so familiar. I just tried MC last night and its pretty fun. But I don't think I'd have the attention span to construct huge worlds block by block.
its worth it. as long as you don't mind having no real social life, it's pretty easy to spend 5 or 6 hours on it at a time.

Yeah I forget how to host a private server, so one of you guys can take that job if you'd like. It should definitely be with beta. Once someone gets the server hosted up they can just post the address in the thread.
It's fairly simple. Download the server program from the main Minecraft site and run it. Make sure you configure it right and the port is forwarded on the router and you're all set.
I can get it running, but I can't port forward because my router has a password and I have no idea what it could be. Unless there's an alternative way to port forward without typing my IP into the address bar.

Then we did survival island.
But then I closed the server cuz I am hosting it on my laptop, and I have to set it up everyday and people lost interest.

Protip: Don't build too much close to spawn. Weird lag stuff and if too much is build it will crash clients when they try and join.
I found you're fortress, I'm going to find a good place near spawn for all of us to set up a village.
I made a little WiiMan hole, can't remember where from spawn exactly though. :P Fortress looks cool, Kefka, and that tower near spawn looks pretty neat. (NO I DID NOT BREAK AND ENTER WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK SUCH A THING)

Where is the server being hosted Jamaha? Finland? Just curious because of some block lag from time to time. Destroyed blocks reappearing etc. No big deal though really.
It's hosted on Zeta's server, which I believe he hosts on a Linux box that he owns.
I wonder what causes the block lag then. I mean, it's usually not too bad, but it'll go through random spurts of bad lag where blocks reappear over and over again for a while.
That generally only happens when you are close to the spawn area. I haven't noticed it where I've been working. Does it happen far away?
EDIT: Actually no, it's suddenly super laggy and not loading properly for me. I think the server is dying or something.

Edit* Also, kudos WiiMan you found a mine. I don't know if you actually realized it though, because it looks like you lit up a room with a waterfall then gave up because there was no where else visible to go. If only you had lit up the cieling, you would see that there is a pathway that reveals a massive cavern. I'll leave most of the exploring to you since I'm tired and need sleep.
Yeah, I found it very tediously, especially since I was so cautious as I could hear creeper sounds where the water was coming from. :P As soon as I found it I needed to leave, I hoped you'd find it.

Yeah, Zeta isn't the most powerful server machine ever. It's just an old desktop from my sister's husbands's workplace.

dunno, you could start if you really wanted to. You'll need to make a mob tower + grinder so you can harvest lots of gunpowder for tnt.

Also Kefka wii man and I ended up building our mind on the west side of your mountain fortress place. Good chance we're going to hit the same caverns at some point if you're as close to bedrock as I am.
So any plans for projects we should work on? Ideas include:
- Community crafting room (full of workbenches and furnaces)
- An inn near spawn (so newcomers or people dying at night have a place to sleep without being totally toasted)
- Colosseum (for spleef, jousting etc.)
- Amphitheatre / public speaking hall (for group announcements etc. so the speaker knows everyone's paying attention)
- Nether portal (maybe later once we better establish ourselves, find a good place for it)
- Bulletin Board (doesn't need to be called that, basically a wall with tons of signs on it with news, notices, projects etc.)
I've claimed some land beyond the ice going straight out from the door to our base, maybe a little to left (there's a sign or two on there with a torch behind them) which can be used as the space for an amphitheatre or Colosseum if you want. It's tree-free and fairly flat.
By the way, whose tower is that on the half-floating landmass next to base / Kefka's Fortress?

Generally just plain asking for op privileges is not taken well anywhere.
Playing on creative mode typically ruins a community experience as well.

It works. Unfortunately I get lots of the lag where you destroy blocks but they instantly pop back up.

Didn't bother restarting the Minecraft server, guess I could do that. Unless the lag is unbearable over there?
The lag is sort of weird. In places, once I remove a block (being by digging, mining, woodcutting or anything) it pops right back in. Then I can move a few metres away, and everything functions normally. Seems like the lag is centered around some ideas, and I have no idea why.
Oh, and I hope somebody else will join in too. I've got my little cottage at the edge of the desert, but it gets sort of lonely with nobody else around.
EDIT: Sorry to be a pain, but what happened to this? I'd really like to see it restarted.

Approximate blocks in the tnt tower: 20,000. Approximate total number of tnt blocks: 27,000.
I plan to fill this entire pit(which I made with a significantly smaller amount of tnt). I'm project this will be at least 100,000 blocks by the time I'm done with it.
So, what exactly is the server address?
Too bad detonating that would put so much strain on your PC that the game most likely will crash. Never mind that most of it would detonate in empty space, seeing as the bottom few blocks would clear out any- and everything that can be blown up witin the blast area.
Still wickedly cool, though. I presume you make frequent backups?

Because we didn't make the server initially for NSM, just as a replacement for the last server we had that was lost when Dom's computer crashed. Ok, for some reason my IP address changed. If you want to get on my server, you have to change the IP to 68.228.178.195:25565 to get on. I have no idea why it changed, but it did.

The Aether mod stopped updating at MC 1.0.
I don't think it was multiplayer compatible either.
MC 1.3.1 made everything multiplayer compatible, due to putting the server into the client.
I'm pretty sure that's how it works now.
I've been playing with the AMCO pack on version 1.4.5 (Revision 2) through MultiMC, and that worked perfectly.

Idk how you set spawn for everybody, make the blocks near spawn undestroyable and how to keep the server running 24/7 even when I would be gone.
It sounds like Clanker is using a server hosting site, and you are trying to host from home.

Nobody will be able to join your server if I'm right. IPs starting with 192 can't be accessed from the internet. You would have to either use a hosting site or Hamachi. Hamachi is more useful for just playing with friends at that moment.
Also, I figured I'd try to join since I've started liking survival mode more, but I can't connect to that IP either, Clanker. Connection timed out.

The only way it'll work is if somebody puts it on a hosting site or has their own server to put it on. Other than that it would require some person to keep the server up on their own computer and have people join without using Hamachi, something I have yet to understand how to do.

I've thought of four things they should add to Minecraft:
1. Jetpack; fueled by coal/charcoal, allows you to fly for a limited time.
2. Bombs; can be thrown; they create a small explosion, doing slightly less damage to the terrain than a Creeper's explosion.
3. Fire Bomb; function like bombs, except they just spread fire instead of destroying terrain (still damage enemies), almost like upgraded Fire Charges.
4. Turret Golem; golems that fire arrows at hostile mobs, although they remain immobile and can be destroyed.

There is only three possibilities. Either I spawned it while I was asleep, or FSM or my friend, who I made OP, came on and spawned the wither. My friend has no interest in the server, and isn't the type of guy who would spawn the wither and not taunt me and stuff about it. However this does not rule him out.
Also, someone may have spawned the wither who's not an OP, however I doubt this is the case as spawn is protected from non OPs and it would have to fly to spawn, which is highly irregular
The Wither came from the End where I spawned it. It was supposed to scare the crap off of anyone who'd fall in my trap I made. The Wither must have come through the portal to the main spawn. I haven't spawned any Withers in the actual Overworld.

OK, they've emailed me back. They're having problems with their Australian Server Base and because I chose the Australian Server as the server runner thingy, the whole server is down. :/ So yeah. I won't move based on the fact of time on the current server and it's financially inadvisable. Here is the email I've been given:

They are either lying/trolling/being arseholes or they originally did own the server, however they didn't pay/got rid of the server in some way. The site I host from does say I'm 'renting' the server, so it could be second hand, or they could be the actual owners. I got two luckily while looking for blaze rods on separate trips.
Then I went to hunt one in a huge fortress for like 1.5 hours. I killed like 70 skeletons.

The only things I got from mining the exposed ores were the diamonds, emeralds, and gold ores. The iron and gold ingots, rods, tears, golden apples, and everything else were already there.
EDIT: Well, shit. I killed the Ender Dragon, but when I tried grabbing the egg, it fell into the portal... what now? Here, I even have proof that I went into The End and killed the Ender Dragon...

Also the random floating ores were the result of a leaf maze I did underground. It backfired when there was fire so I had to delete most of it.

But I wanted the Dragon Egg...Anyway, I know it is definitely possible to do something like deleting The End's save file or something and everything will be restored. Whoever has the world files has to delete the DIM1 folder and its contents (something along the lines of that). Then the next time you go into The End everything will be reset.

The server hasn't been updated to work with version 1.6.4 (I think). I can't join the server; all I see is the message "Server out of date" with a red 1.6.2 next to it.
Can someone fix this? Preferably soon?
I'm not on this Minecraft server, but can't you create a new profile with 1.6.2 as the version?

I'm currently working on Skyblock and Deathmatch arenas on the server, now that command blocks are usable.

So with the new biomes and whatnot, I decided to go out exploring today for some dark oak stuffs.
Headed west first. Five thousand blocks out, all I saw along the way were lots and lots of taiga, savanna, forest, and desert. Little to nothing else.
After getting back home, I headed southeast. Three and a half thousand blocks out, I finally found something other than savannas: roofed forests. One tree gave me enough logs and saplings to head back home satisfied.
Today was a good day.

Oh boy. I've played since beta so I know the game in and out pretty well...I hope you guys are up for some real building and stuff.
Braixen you put the IP into the Multiplayer option on the menu...there's a button that says Add Server....and you paste the IP in the server address bar. It's really straight forward. I recommend you read everything on this page: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Crafting (http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Crafting) and use the whole site as a source for knowledge.
I'm going to host a server starting tomorrow probably...trying to get a base of people first.

So I've got spawn sketched out roughly so far. I sent the IPs to those who PM'd me....for now nothing is really done yet other than spawn...and I havent layed a protection on it yet so don't grief spawn or I'll kick you lolol. I've been playing here for three months already and really enjoy it. They have a dynmap and forums, and their server is vanilla with anti-grief/roll back mods to prevent cheating. If any of you are interested, it's a whitelist that can be attained by applying(and putting in a decent application)...but the server is highly active with 20+ members on per day.
After a bit of discussion in Discord, we've decided to reinitiate the NSM Minecraft server, but now, it's a Realm! In order to join the Realm, you need to be invited by the owner (Me!) by using your Minecraft name. So, I guess if you want to join, post your Minecraft name here or PM it to me or some equivalent of those. (Don't be mad at me mods, I was told to post this here and not make a new topic.)
With Realms, up to ten players can be on at a time, and multiple worlds can be saved to the same Realm, meaning there could be both randomly generated survival classicness and premade maps of fun and adventure! Very exciting! It also has built in minigames apparently.
Also, because of the way Realms work, Java version Realms are only compatible with Java version games (whereas every other version of Minecraft is compatible with each other), so you will have to have the Java version of Minecraft to join.
Is the Minecraft realm still active btw? I'm keen and ready to build stuff if it is. haha
