So Touhou 12.8 (Fairy Wars) comes out the 14th of August! I'm so excited about Cirno being in it. Anyone else plan on downloading it or is it just me?
Also, Touhou Hack and Slash is easily the best MMORPG. Except for the part where I don't understand what anything says, I highly recommend it! I might make a little guide too.

They have so many phases.
Plus, you barely get any bombs. (I dunno how you get them, you just do)
And you have to tap the fire button, you can't hold it down or you'll use the freeze thing, which freezes danmaku for a limited time and gives you points so you can power up.
(Everytime you use it, it goes back to 0%, and 30% only lasts half a second)
It takes so long to level up, the highest I've gotten was 14.
I think you have 5 retries on Easy mode and 2 lives on each.
That's about the summary of the difficulty, I'm not good at phrasing things or things like that, so just try it out yourself and post how good you're doing.
Instead of tapping the z button, hold down the ctrl button.

What's the difference in the choice? I picked the one that went to A2-2, it seemed that the enemies were a bit tougher than A1-2.

This was extraordinarily disappointing. Granted, I only got up to Stage 5 on Normal, but I would attribute every death due to boredom to be honest. ZUN didn't make the game any more difficult at all. :(

The "r" sound is this funky in-between r and l sound. You can't really properly describe it as it's pretty unique. Find some sample of speaking somewhere and you'll hear it.

EDIT: Wow, unbelievably gay... I was on the last boss on Normal. So, I got her down to her last Spell Card. I only had one life left, and unfortunately, I died. But the EXACT MOMENT I came back in after using a continue, her HP ran out.

I'm really in love with 10.5! Amazing music, especially Bhava-agra As Seen Through A Child's Eyes! and shooters, I have no idea. I really enjoy 8, 9, and 10 better than others. 8 because it was my first game, and 8 is my lucky number, AND it is the introduction to Reisen. 9 because it's hilarious to watch the computers play on Lunatic. 10 because, Suwako~!

Oh, I beat the Extra Stage in TD yesterday, BTW.
Wow, Ten Desires was really disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was OK... Extra boss was fun, but too easy. Only took me 10 tries to get it.
I 1CC'd normal on my first try with Sanae, then went back with Reimu. The stages were lacking. I thought we were going back to Dark Blowhole at one point but, guess not. The only thing that was memorable was Stage 6. That background was just... Ah <3 and the music to go along with the rave... AH<3
The Spirits thing was dumb. How are you supposed to get 12 purple spirit things for a life? Good thing it was pretty easy. I'm going to take a go at Hard later today.
Trance was interesting. At first, I was so freaking confused, I thought collecting those spirit things while in Trance would save you but nope. It's pretty cool, I guess.
I can't wait until 13.5 or whatever's next, this game was not too good.
Favorite part was when Reimu flat out told Mrs. Stage 6 boss (cba to learn their names) that she's gonna beat her up for no reason. Hahaha <3
Back from my school concert, and I could've sworn at one point I heard the choir singing the SA fifth stage theme, "Lullaby of Deserted Hell"... turns out that it was actually Scarborough Fair. Meh, lately I've been hearing a lot of songs that sound like Touhou songs...

First off, I downloaded TH11 and TH12, played 11 and managed to 1cc Normal with Reimu A and Marisa B. Back to back. :o

And MasterProX, my flash drive has 3.73 GBs. I have 973 MBs left after having Double Spoiler on there and all my other crap.
TH11 is 402 MBs and TH12 is 486 MBs. I would only have room for one of them unless I delete some stuff. I think I'll just bring DS and SA with me. It's good enough. I got past Iku then died against Tenshi then continued and beat her barely. :(

All my friends and classmates say that Touhou sucks and stuff. I'm mostly annoyed by the fact that my best friend hates it the most. He says the music sucks, though he's never listened to it. He says the game is the same thing over and over, because you're just "shooting at random girls who you don't like". He also says Touhou is for people with no life, and that it just completely sucks (probably because he's never heard of it before since it's Japanese, or that he hates bullet hell games). And at random times, he calls my name just to say, "Yeah. Touhou. It sucks, it's gay, it's retarded, the guy who made it can burn in hell."
So now, I need someone to help me get him to stop hating it, or stop thinking all the things he thinks about it.

Basically, he says so just because he enjoys your reaction. If you calmly reply "sure, that's your opinion" each time he brings it up, he'll quit bitching after a while. You see the same thing on the Internet all the time (I personally think it should be an offence punished with papercut-induced loss of fingernails, but that's just me).
To sum it up, it's part of human nature to enjoy hating things. Twilight, America, hipsters, lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, George Bush, hip hop music, atheists, Biblical literacy, PETA, Barbie dolls, everything that's "mainstream" etc, etc. Each of these things have a large amount of anti-fans dedicating their lives to spew out an endless rant to whoever wants to listen. My old laptop can't handle it at some points, so it slows down to 30 fps, especially with Marisa A's focus fire.
Beat it on easy of my first try, but I haven't really played it more.
I rather like the stage 5 boss spell cards.
The stage 5 boss has a really annoying gimmick though. I don't understand that last card.
Marisa B's bomb is so OP though, especially if there are a lot of bullets!

I thought Seija's cards were all really easy.
Since my laptop keyboard sucks and won't let me bomb unless I let go of EVERY key, it took me 9 tries to 1cc Normal with ReimuA. I would've beaten the EX Boss too if my keyboard wasn't so bad.

So I finally got around to playing Hopeless Masquerade the other day with the translation.
It's just meh.
Hisoutensoku is better.
It's a completely different engine so of course it will take time to get used to, but once you understand it it's a ton of fun.
Was playing IN just now for the first time in a while. Decided to attempt a Lunatic 1cc. Everything was going fine until I got to Marisa... I had run out of lives and bombs on my first continue and only needed a few more point items to get an extra life, which I probably could've used to at least make it to Stage 6... too bad I was short one point item from an extra life (799/800...) and died on Marisa's final spell.

Honestly, I love what I've heard of IN's OST, so I'll probably start there.
For some reason, google really wants me to change IN's OST to IN pOST.
Yes! Imperishable Night! That's also where I started lol. It's a bit easy, so it's a decent starting place. People also say that PCB is a good place to start as well, if you want to build your reflexes a bit.
Also yeah, IN has a good freaking amazing (overall) soundtrack, so that's definitely another reason to play it!
I was going to jokingly tell you to start with SA or UFO, but you know... that would be mean.
Y'know, just reading through this conversation makes me want to play something again. I've always liked UFO Stage 5, I think the cards there are pretty fun. I'm a fan of Stage 5s in general.

Just remembered Mountain of Faith. It's probably the easiest, if it wasn't for the Final Boss's Final SpellCard. That thing is a nightmare.

Wait, are you referring to "Most Valuable Vajra"? That thing with the big green lasers and THE CONSTANT SUFFERING? I'm pretty sure the curvy lasers only appeared in the (super-annoying) non-spells, and the first spell card. The rest of them had straight (but massive) lasers.

I actually like the card with the cross of green lasers. It's a pretty unique card. The way the lasers swing around to your position makes it harder for you if you try to go around the outside to dodge the rings of bullets.
To me, it's actually a bit surprising how difficult the curvy lasers are when compared to straight lasers. But once you get used to them, when you learn how to read them properly, they get sliiightly better.

It's mainly reacting and predicting. I've gotten better at predicting, but my reaction time has barely improved from it's terrible state. There's a reason I haven't beaten PCB yet.

That 4th stage isn't fun. Are you playing as Reimu/Yukari (the first option)? That's probably your best bet for a first playthrough.

Yep. With continues, I got to the 4th stage boss, and beat it.... and hit 5:00 even. Yay.
Well I think you're doing great, and I say you should keep at it! You really need a lot of perseverance to play these games.
P.S. Stage 5 is an absolute pain. The stage more so than the actual boss.
Oh yeah, typically, every Touhou game has a sharp difficulty spike around Stage 4. It's a lot worse in some of the other games, though.

I'd love to be able to beat this on at least normal, but we'll see what I can do.
It's a start. I'd try to beat Easy with fewer and fewer continues, until you can 1cc it (not consistently, but not barely scraped). Then you should try Normal.
By the way, you're fighting Eirin, who is harder than Kaguya on Easy and Normal.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that in IN and IN only, beating Easy without continues is a good enough victory to earn you the Extra Stage. Don't try it though.

Also, uh, LUCKY BLUE UFO. Context: When I beat Byakuren for the first time, I had a single blue UFO, and I titled it as "Lucky Blue UFO". It returned for the Extra Stage, and I'm so glad that it did.

Even just playing the demo, I am having a wonderful time with touhou 16. The characters are pretty cool, music is nice (particularly the stage 1 theme), and overall it's just a lot of fun to play. I'm quite excited for the full release.

I like Aya's the best so far, and with Marisa's lasers, it's super op.
Yeah, practically, cirno's not that great, but I still enjoy playing as her just bc you never really get to play as cirno in the main games.
Aya's my favorite character to actually play as just cuz shes very fast and strong.
