WOOT!!!! Brawl finally comes out today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As soon as i can, i'm going down to circuit city to get my copy and start brawling with my bro. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I can't get it yet because it's Sunday. :'( :'( :'(
why can't you get it? the circuit city i'm getting it from had brawl yesterday, and and f.y.e near me was selling reserved copies of brawl yesterday. Most places already had brawl a few days ago and were just holding them
i just finished playing Brawl for 3 hours straight, and I LOVE THIS GAME! it is so amazing in every way: great music, stellar gameplay, good online, awesome local multiplayer... the list goes on and on. you all have to buy this game now! it's so amazingly fun i can hardly put it into words. wow, just buy it.
INCREDIBLE. Graphics are stellar, controls are intuitive, the possibilities are unlimited, and the music is beautifully composed.
all stores are closed on Sundays :(
LOL where do you noobs live? Redneck land? Almost everywhere is open on Sundays.
~sigh
I have to wait a few days till mine gets here....
Quote from: Lildigipoke2 on March 09, 2008, 09:39:28 AMall stores are closed on Sundays :(
lol that's weird. 90% of stores here are even open on Christmas day. Which is kind of strange.
Got it last night at midnight, and played till about 5 AM before going to sleep. It's absolutely amazing.
Now I'm playing it some more.
You guys are just repeating facts.
Well. I just got it, about an hour ago from this post. The thing I love, are the cutscenes. They are AWESOME. Read the posts above, and you'll know what I think of the game.
A must have, if you have a Wii.
Calling the graphics on this game stellar or amazing is like calling Superman 64 a good game.
These graphics are just a tad better than melee, probably around twilight princess level (which is GCN port but a little better)

I can't shop on Sundays, but I'll probably be able to get it later this week,
IF I'M LUCKY.

dude, i loved Superman 64!!!!!!! for real, yo!
i got brawl and its so awesome!
Well, I didn't get it today (darn) but Thursday is my next shot.
i didn't preorder it, so i have to wait...and wait...and wait....i feel left out :(
SSE is kinda of boring since it's so repetitive. I only play it for the cinematics and to unlock characters...
The multiplayer is really great though. Even more when the online will be working!
I just got my Wii on Sunday and i didnt get a BRAWL b/c it was sold out :'(
That's too bad...up in our big city they have Brawl but no Wiis. Still. I mean, come on Nintendo, get on top of it.
I got Super smash bros. brawl at Mejier and they had like 10 copies in the case. I didn't even pre-order it! ;D
I guess not that many people in my town own a Wii or was not interested in Super Smash Bros. :P
I got brawl on Sunday, but I just tried online today... and it lags a lot. It's not my connection because it works fine with mario strikers charged. Is it how far away the people I play are??? Does this happen to anyone else?
internet for me was okay, actually. it was a little laggy, but it wasn't awful.

Do you have a router. If you do, where is it, and where is your wii? Cause my wii is on the middle floor, and my router is 1 floor down.
I haven't played anything online yet, but my Wii gets internet fine. It moves pretty fast. I hope it's good enough.

i've already told you all that in some other thread... but yes i have a router and it is in the next room over from where my Wii is.

No way! I live in Houston (Katy) too! ::)
Yeah this game is definitely fucking awesome. The graphics are great for a Wii game, the controls are satisfactory, the new modes and old ones are great, an the music is phenomenal. I didn't like Melee much, but this definitely makes up for it. I don't like however that Bowser gets to turn into some colossal Bowser for his final attack thing. That's ridiculous with like Diddy.

OMG! Where i live, at every game store there was a contest for two people to brawl (In SSBB WELLL DUH!) anyways- they'd brawl each other, and whoever one would get a free copy! My friend Joey one lol!

There was a contest at my Gamestop. I lost miserably in the first battle, but my bro got 2nd place. No free copy though. :( There were over 50 people there.
hmmm.... must have been a nation-wide thing. I brawled against 3 other dudes- and I got 2nd place! Sooooo close to getting a free one- but i ended up buying a copy anyways lol ::)
I LOVE THIS GAME!!! It's so awsome I got most of the characters now.
My mom reserved it since october as an early bithday present ;) and now I have it (It's only been like 3 days or so) but it's still awsome Samus & Sonic are my best :D!

My city too ;)
FINALLY got Brawl!
The only disappointing part is Subspace Emissary. But I'll stick it out to the end. I'm about two hours in or so.
Really? I'm especially looking forward to it.
It's so much better than just 1v1 battles.
I really liked The Subspace Emissary. Sure, you run around and kill A LOT of primids, but still, its a good adventure mode. Cutscenes are awesome, the plot was cool, and the boss battles were a lot of fun.
plus, it's like kirby superstar which is an awesome game.
What's better than awesome?
Better than awesome is better that awesome... if you really want to think like that. ;)

The plot was terrible, and the boss battles were the only good thing about it.
Then you need to go die somewhere.
Please tell me how the plot was "cool".
LOL SPOILERS
Tabuu aka Gandhi shows up, Ganondorf is like "OMG!" all of a sudden when he sees the little strings on master hand, gets owned instantly of course, then master hand is like "LOL PUNCH AND DIE INSTANTLY ALSO" then Tabuu owns everyone and turns into a creepy butterfly and makes a bunch of shiny balls of doom go around him then stairs appear.
Ok, WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THAT PLOT. I think somebody was drunk when they thought it up, it makes absolutely no sense, especially with only 1 spoken line.

2you forgot the part where Sonic jumps out of nowhere and pwns Tabuu (kinda). but yeah the whole story makes as much sense as Cloverfield (dude, that movie was messed up).
but still, who plays brawl for the story??

Not anymore there's not. :P Dekudude or someone has to reprogram that into the forums. Notice our YouTube button is gone too.

i've asked Concerto about it, and he's asked G-Han, and he's asked JaMaHa, so... it
might be being worked on. :-\
True, the plot spiraled and spun quite a bit. But it was engaging nonetheless.
I really like "The Great Invasion" movie. Let's just say the Subspace Emissary had it's moments.
That was definately the climax of the entire story mode. That scene was pure awesome.
If it didn't spiral around to all the different characters, then you'd be stuck playing as the same person over, and over, and over, until you reached "The Great Reunion" scene, and then you'd play as another character until they reached that point.
That wasn't really the problem...but at certain points it was ANNOYING how we left one group of characters HANGING forever. Especially right when it looked like the Ancient Minister was gonna change his mind.
Aye, that was annoying. I hated how we had to find every single person in "The Great Maze" just to get to the final boss.
they're just trying to make the game challenging, which makes people get annoyed
I know what you mean. The Falco trophy is still lost somewhere in the Great Maze, and someone else is missing too. Bugger.
Okay, does the flag mean an area is TOTALLY cleared, or the other way around?

"Both flags and crowns are proof that you’ve cleared a stage.
A flag means that you haven’t gotten all the things listed above for that stage. A crown means that the stage has been completely cleared."
What is Nintendo's definition of "combos" in training mode?
I dunno, but I got over 900 once.
Thanks, Shadoninja.
Combos are consecutive hits...I think. The best way I've found to rack them up is to have the CPU at one end of Final Destination, then spawn a bunch of Smart Bombs (four) around him. Walk away, spawn another Smart Bomb, and throw it at him/her. Then run.
Racks up at least 100 every time. And looks hilarious.
Another fun thing to do in Training: make 5 gooey bombs and quickly throw all of them at the CPU. It looks really funny, I won't spoil it.
oh, if smart bombs work, then I probably made a boxed level, put smart bombs on each side where it's just enough to hit the other side near the end of the smart bomb animation, then just hit the item spawn button on the menu.
That is a REALLY good Idea.
Will have to try that later.
PS...did it bug anyone how The FINAL final battle didn't give anything? I guess I need to do it on Normal and Hard.
Normal Final Battle wasn't that hard, even on Hard mode. But still no reward.
I play Final Destination a lot less in this game, probably because it's a starting stage.
Final Destination is a terrible stage. It gives a total advantage to anyone that has a ranged attack, is an incredibly boring stage, has too small of a fighting area, and is only for the failures at the game that make excuses to have no items and play only there because they really suck at all aspects of the game except the c-stick and can't deal with the strategy it takes to avoid/use stage hazards or items.

it's supposed to be a neutral stage.
Well neutral except for the fact that anyone that has a ranged attack instantly has an advantage.
take to the air, use dodges... projectiles can be avoided, it can be just as much of a disadvantage when you're charging an arrow or shooting a laser when the opponent is close enough for an easy hit... i think that projectile users have a GREATER advantage on stages with hazards because there are the stage hazards to worry about as well...
my only problem with final destination is that (similarly to some other stages), you can get stuck under the stage while trying to recover if you're not careful... whereas on some stages you can "slide" up the side of the stage, but final destination and some other stages just get you stuck (and you pay for it)
How do projectile users NOT have an advantage? I mean, look at Final Destination vs. Battlefield. Both are considered "neutral" stages, but Battlefield is much more neutral because it stops the projectile users from having an advantage because of its other platforms.
Shields, Sidestep dodging....
>.> I'm just saying that since the stage is flat with nowhere to jump up or anything, the ranged attacks get a little advantage. Yes, you can dodge the attacks, but that isn't the point. You can dodge anywhere.
Gamer is right...but only concerning regular Brawls. FD is much more fun than other stages for duels and such. And isn't it *the* training stage? Isn't that why it came up in discussion?
I win 9/10 times at Final Destination versus long-range fighters. If you have disadvantage, just make sure you're better than you're opponent.
Well, we all know that advantage =/= skill or whether you win or not.
Brawl is here!

i so totally called the ending of it the first time i saw it. and i hate Spongebob, so... :-\
That wasn't Spongebob, was it?
The song was.
Umm...what stage is Wolf in in SSE? I've found everyone but him now. I had to get him as a character through Boss Battles.
The "Temple" I think? You ride a platform down, he's in a door through there.
I think it's called the ruins. it's the level where you ride a platform down, metal primids attack you, and there are pink crystal like spikes.
Yeah, thats right. Ruins. I remember now.
Ruins.
Well, I'll look for him. Subspace is 94% complete right now.
